Lindsey Will Stick Around for 'One Tree Hill' Season 6
If you tuned in to season 5 of One Tree Hill you probably had your fill of the love rectangle between Lucas, Brooke, Peyton and Lindsey. Much of the season was devoted to Lucas attempting to decide between married life with Lindsey or rekindling his past with Peyton (Hilarie Burton), but Brooke's baby mama drama also had an impact on him in the last few episodes. The season ended with Lucas calling one member of the trio and inviting her to Las Vegas for a quickie wedding. Who he called remains a mystery, but I think most fans assume that it probably wasn't Lindsey. After all, actress Michaela McManus is but a guest star.

Much to the dismay of those of us who are a bit tired of the love square, creator Mark Schwahn recently confirmed in an interview with The CW Source that Lindsey is sticking around for season 6. Could she be the one who received the fateful phone call from Lucas?

When asked about Lindsey's involvement in the future of the series, Schwahn said, "The truth is, we do know some things about season 6, and chances are good that she ain't going anywhere. I can't tell you in what capacity. That could be one episode, it could be more than one episode. But I have a feeling that Lindsey is pretty interwoven into this whole love triangle, now a love rectangle basically. The thing is, Michaela is such an awesome person, and she's doing such a great job that we'd be silly to part ways."

Though Schwahn teases that the character could be returning for only one episode, his affection for McManus makes it seem like she'll stick around much longer. I personally feel that Lindsey's character stopped having a purpose the instant she ran out on Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) at the wedding, so what could she possibly add to season 6 of the series? The only way I can see to keep her involved in the antics of the Tree Hill gang is to have her marry Lucas. This would allow Schwahn and his writers to prolong the love square indefinitely, which I think is a terrible idea.

Schwahn also had some thoughts on the burgeoning relationship between Lucas and Brooke (Sophia Bush). "Now that the kids are in their twenties, it's not necessarily just 'Are they gonna date? Are they gonna hook up? Who's romantically involved?' There's more to it than that," he pointed out. "I think if you look at the Brooke/Lucas story line that we've done in the last six episodes there's a lot more going on than just 'Are they gonna kiss? Are they gonna be together?' I think that's what's great about when you've been friends with someone for a really long time, when you genuinely love them, whether it's romantic or not, you can impact their lives in so many ways."

If I were to read between the lines of Schwahn's statement, I would think he was telling Brucas fans that a romance between the two isn't in the cards. It sounds like they'll continue to have a positive influence in each other's lives, but that may not lead to love and marriage. Of course, I could be completely wrong. Maybe Schwahn is leading us toward plenty of sexy Brucas shenanigans in season 6 and is just trying to throw us off.

Fans will find out who Lucas called when One Tree Hill returns for its sixth season in the fall. Until then, all we can do is hope that it wasn't Lindsey.

From what I hear, producers are still fleshing out the plans for next season, but I also hear that it's "98.8 percent" certain Dan will be back. News flash: It has been decided! I can't say exactly who, sorry, because that is a huge reveal, and Mark Schwan would promptly open a can of whup-ass on me, but I can tell you the script has been written, and I think many of you will be happy. (I am.) In other news, Nanny Carrie is back! And so is Brooke's mom! God help us all. If Nanny See You Next Tuesday so much as touches a hair on Nathan, Haley or Jamie's heads, I will fly right out to N.C. and snap her in two.

6.01 spoiler:

There is a scene very early in the sixth season premiere where Skills and Brooke are in bed acting romantic. (Yes, I said Skills and Brooke, so what do you think? Dream? Names changed to hide other identities?)

It's not Chase for sure nor the doctor. Positive.

Something about the scene doesn't point to Lucas being in the "Skills" role.

OTH's Michaela McManus joining SVU!
Well, I guess we now know one of the candidates Lucas didn't invite to Vegas. Michaela McManus (aka One Tree Hill's Lindsey) is joining the cast of NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as the new assistant district attorney, effective with this fall's Season 10. McManus will play the ADA assigned to the Special Victims Unit, thus following in the footsteps of predecessors Diane Neal and Stephanie March.

McManus, who attended NYU's graduate acting program, had a recurring role as Lindsey Strauss on One Tree Hill. Are you ready to see Linds in the courtroom? — Anna Dimond

Well, it ain't her.

But it is...

PEYTON. Yup, my sources tell me that Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton have been busy shooting some hot and heavy bedroom scenes lately.

Hey, at least he proposed to the same girl he already proposed to once on the show instead of someone completely different (like Brooke, played by Sophia Bush who, wow this is awkward, he proposed to and married and divorced in real life), racking up his proposal number to three gals in one season.

As Lucas and Peyton run off to get married in Las Vegas, Brooke's luck has gone in the opposite direction. Clothes Over Bros gets robbed and Brooke gets attacked during the break in. In Vegas, Lucas and Peyton go to the chapel to get married by... well... Elvis! However, we don't see the entire "wedding"... and we never see the "I Do's"!

This episode will contain a LOT of dream sequences. Also... all 3 girls (Brooke, Peyton, and Lindsay) have filmed or will film a scene of them leaving with Lucas to Vegas. Some other scenes include Peyton and Lucas kissing in the airport, Brooke and Lucas kissing downtown.

Epi 602 - One Million Billionth of a Millisecond on a Sunday Morning - 09.08.08
An important character will be gone from Tree Hill.
Tree Hill residents are surprised to learn that a couple will indeed get married. Brooke tries to adjust to life after the robbery at "Clothes Over Bros". That's right — Ernest Waddell is returning to the CW's One Tree Hill this season, and for multiple episodes, sources tell TVGuide.com.

As best my resident Tree Hill historian, Robyn, can explain it, shortly after Peyton's momma, Ellie, passed on, she learned she had a half-brother out there, somewhere. Enter Psycho Derek (played by Matt Barr). That Derek, however, was just a poser/flim-flam man/all-out psycho.

Just as "Derek" got his comeuppance, Peyton's actual sibling surfaced, and he was a tough-as-nails Marine with a tender heart. After a four-episode run in 2006, Waddell's Derek was deployed to Iraq, but not until he could escort his sis to a basketball banquet honoring Nathan. — Matt Mitovich
