Rowling said two characters will die in the seventh and last book in the popular franchise during a live interview on Channel 4's Richard & Judy in the UK. "The final chapter is hidden away, although it's now changed very slightly. One character got a reprieve. But I have to say two die that I didn't intend to die," she said. "A price has to be paid. We are dealing with pure evil here. They don't target extras do they? They go for the main characters. Well, I do." While she wouldn't reveal if one of the two characters is Harry himself, Rowling added that she has never been tempted to kill him off before the final book because she had always planned seven. "I can completely understand, however, the mentality of an author who thinks, 'Well, I'm gonna kill them off because that means there can be no non-author written sequels. So it will end with me, and after I'm dead and gone they won't be able to bring back the character'." Giving an update on the book's status, Rowling said, "The last book is not finished. But I'm well into it now. I wrote the final chapter in something like 1990, so I've known exactly how the series is going to end." |

I really hope it isn't Ron or Hermione, but I have a funny feeling that it might be one of them. Harry can't die. He's the star. I'd be mad if he did die. That'd be be horrible, since he is my favorite character. Quote:

He's the star and my favorite character. I'm not sure how fans of the movies and the books would like that. Didn't J.K. Rowling say that she has never thought about killing Harry or did I read the wrong? Edit: Also, it wouldn't seem right if Harry died because of everything he has been through. She should just make him live just to have a happy ending. My sister will probably read the last book and then I'll ask her if Harry dies or if Ron or Hermione die. She might not tell me, but maybe if I keep asking her, she'll tell me because then that might change my mind about seeing the last movie in theaters. Quote:

Rowling said: "A price has to be paid. We are dealing with pure evil here. They don't target extras do they? They go for the main characters. Well, I do." And this part: While she wouldn't reveal if one of the two characters is Harry himself, Rowling added that she has never been tempted to kill him off before the final book because she had always planned seven. "I can completely understand, however, the mentality of an author who thinks, 'Well, I'm gonna kill them off because that means there can be no non-author written sequels. So it will end with me, and after I'm dead and gone they won't be able to bring back the character'." Means that even before someone accepted to publish any of the Harry Potter Books at all that she had always planned on it being just 7 Books in total; no more no less. Which means that she always wanted to keep Harry alive until the last book so that way if she did decide to kill Harry she would wait until the last book to do it. One Main Rule in Books & even in Movies is that if Prue Good goes up against Prue Evil you can have one side survive while the other is destoryed, have both sides destoryed because of how fierce & intense the final battle was, or have both sides survive to fight again another day. It just seems from the way things have gone & are going Rowling is going for the second choice. | ||
