Post "Jericho" Repeats Land on Fridays

Resurrected from an early demise just last week, CBS has set a summer repeat schedule for "Jericho" starting in early July.

On Friday, July 6 at 9 p.m. ET, CBS will reair the original "Jericho" pilot, in which the residents of a small Kansas town begin to deal with the effects of a nuclear attack. The following week, at 8 p.m., the network will air a clipshow recapping the season's first 11 episodes, followed by episode 12, "The Day Before," which began the show's spring season.

Through the rest of the summer, CBS will use the Friday 9 p.m. time slot to show episodes 13-22. CBS will concentrate on those particular episodes because they represent the second half of the show's first season, the block of episodes that followed the show's extended winter hiatus and suffered major viewer attrition against FOX's "American Idol."

Due in large part to that hiatus and the intensified competition, "Jericho" saw its average viewership fall by roughly 3 million viewers per week from the 10.7 million who watched those first 11 episodes and due to that viewership decline, CBS cancelled the show when the network announced its schedule last month.

Then the letters and e-mails began pouring in, followed by the ads in the industry trade papers, followed by tons and tons of peanuts.

Last week, CBS let the fans know that the network was listening by ordering seven episodes of "Jericho" for next midseason. In a post to the show's official message board, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler challenged the devoted fans to help expand the show's audience.

"We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks," she wrote.

In return, CBS promised to reair episodes on the broadcast network this summer in addition to making episodes available online on the CBS Audience Network. The show's first season will premiere on DVD on Sept. 25 and the story will be expanded "in the digital world" in a yet-to-be-announced manner.

It is good that they are showing the reruns this summer. I was watching with a friend who was not that familiar with the show and she loves what she has seen so far. Great way to get new Jericho fans!!!

Can't wait till next Friday!
