| Ya Rly! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Since 24 just received about a billion Emmy nominations (well, actually 12), I think it's time to talk about which one of Jack's Very Bad Days was the best, and why. I actually have 2 that stand out, even though I think they were all good. 1. DAY 5 - Not only did it have some of the most shocking deaths in the show's history, but it also gave Jack his most powerful enemy yet: the President of the United States, Charles Logan. Not only was Logan the bad guy, but he was both incompetent and Machiavellian, and one of the most complex characters to come to TV in a long time. We also saw Jack's Evil Twin and mentor, Christopher Henderson, who pretty much became Public Enemy #1 the moment we saw him, which is quite a feat for the writers and Peter Weller, who plays him. It also has what is probably the coolest Jack Moment ever. Just look at my sig. This is also probably the only season when WHAT happens isn't as interesting or important as the people involved in the day's events, their motives, and how they deal with the day's events. It also has the single greatest ending in the show's history. 2. DAY 1 - What started out as a politically and racially-motivated assassination attempt actually turned out to be a personal vendetta against Jack Bauer and then-Senator David Palmer, for actions against terrorist Victor Drazen and his family years earlier. We were introducted to some great characters, like George Mason, Nina Myes, Tony Almeida, Ryan Chappelle, and of course, Sherry Palmer. Another high point of the season: Naked Mandy, and Jack's best action scene when he storms the Drazens' hideout and takes everyone out himself. What I loved about this season was that it showed Jack as a flawed man with serious trust issues, who was simply trying to protect his sometimes less-than-intelligent family. While it does have some flaws (Teri's temporary amnesia and Kim's 708 abductions come to mind), it's still a great season that sets Jack's downward spiral into motion, and it's closing scene really brings home what a tragic character he is. |

I have seen 2, 3 and 4. 5th's not here yet, and I missed the 1st one on tv. I still have the last two hours of the 4th to watch though. I have them recorded, just haven't gotten around to see them yet. ...hmm, not I can't decide. I love them all. |

Season two was my first, so that year stands out for me because everything felt fresh and new. Of course, seeing the second season first also meant that I saw the first season as a sort of prequel. And knowing the big twists in advance, I don't think I enjoyed as much as everyone else. Anyway, I'd go was 2, 4 & 5 as my favourites. |

I thought having the president of the united states being the lead terrorist in the conspiracy and attacks was unrealistic, ridiculous, and simply a copout for outrageousness. They were looking for a line to cross to get people interested in a somewhat boring premise, and that was it. Make the president the bad guy. |

Season 4 pushed my close to the edge, but season 5 made me honestly wanna stop watching the show. Same old situations, same old plot holes. It's takeaway food television. Once you start you can't stop, but you never feel satisfied after. The cliff hanger WAS good, but I probably still won't watch season 6. | |
