| Server Administrator ![]() ![]() ![]() | How would you like it if commercials went away? Im just starting to think that the model of commercials and ad-revenue that is in use today is outdated. What would you think of getting rid of the 5 min spot of commercials every 12 mins? What would you do for a way to make money if you were a producer? Product placement? You know Im more likely to buy a Senseo now because of soundvertising though the Daily Source Code. I cant really tell you the last time I bought something off an ad placment tho. Whats your ideas on this? |

TV ads are very effective especialy for things like the Razor, which only became cool because it was on TV so much. Product placement only works well with things that have established brand reconition like Coca Cola, Hursheys, Chillies resturaunt, or Dell. Advertising Skin Wear bathing suits or SPG Food Markets cant use poduct placement. With TV ads you can hear a message and see an image, not sure that can be replaced with anything else. Product placement is cheaper then the 30 second ad, I dont think companies will pay enough for product placement to fund some of the high budget broadcast shows. With more product placement and other little things that pop up in corners ads may go away on cable channels. |

I'll see if I can't find that article again. I was right it was Phillips, here's the article: linky |

Hell, if its built in I'd even take apart a machine to get it out. I guess the TV providers can do something like that, but I dont see how a piece of hardware can do it. Why would anyone get that piece of hardware or not disable it. Last edited by open32; 06-06-2006 at 12:05 AM.. |

As it says in the article Phillips is merely inventing and getting the copyrights on it, whether anyone will ever use the technology remains to be seen. |

I feel really bad for all of you Americans; they come on every channel, every 10 minutes, over there. I have like 7-8 channel where there's only commercials between different programs. And the channels that actually have commercialbreaks in the different tv-shows, only come every 20 min. in one hour tv-series, and every 30 min. in movies. |

| i dont know. lately commercials i actually watch have been kind of etertaining. so i dont mind them as much. i still rarely watch commercials though. but they've definitely been much more absurd in their humour lately, which i like. |
