"Saved By the Bell" - Back In Production!

Adult Swim has done it again! Following hot on the heels of Fox's Family Guy, Saved By The Bell has been pulled from cancellation with an order for 30 all new episodes taking place at Bayside High.

"We were ecstatic when we saw the early numbers on Saved By the Bell on Adult Swim," said Matt Laster, the VP of Turner Entertainment's newly created 80's Reclamation Department. "We knew this had the potential to be big, but we never thought it would be this big. The fans have really shown their support and come out in droves on the adultswim.com website."

According to Laster, the new series is still in development but he did say that almost all of the original cast would be returning, minus "Showgirls" star Elizabeth Berkley. The series will follow the events after Saved By the Bell: The New Class and find Screech as the new principal of Bayside and a retired Mr. Belding as the proprietor of the Max, the hangout that the Saved By the Bell gang frequented. Screech is overwhelmed by the new group of students and puts out a call for help, and soon, all of the old regulars are back at Bayside. Laster would not elaborate on the status of Zack and Kelly's relationship, though the couple were last seen walking down the aisle.

"I've spoken to the crew and they really can't wait to get back together," said Laster. "We think this will be a fun and exciting new direction for Adult Swim and we can't wait to find even more great 80's comedies for Adult Swim."

I think it would be cooler if they did a cartoon spoof of it. I'm sure Dustin Diamond is grateful to be working again.

Thats pretty cool news, I would watch this. To bad about Elizabeth Berkley though, she was one of my faves lol.

Wow, this is crazy. Why wont Elizabeth Berkley do it, she is doing nothing. Im suprize zack will, doesnt he have a role on CSI or one of those cop shows.

Its been a long time but it can work againt.

The thing that will make this interesting is that there will be two main casts: the originals now acting as the adults/teachers, and the new students, whereas before it was the students as the main cast, and then everyone else was supporting.

Not surprised Elizabeth won't being coming back, I even bet half of the others might not want to come back either but will come back because of how much they will be getting paid since "Saved by the Bell" launched all their careers.

That is a pretty interesting concept, but that's what should have been done back when the "Saved by the Bell: The New Class" was made instead of the way it was done.

Also I still don't know how this Live Action Show will survive on the Cartoon Network considering it will be the First Live Action Show ever on there. And from what I understand, most people that work on "Adult" didn't like the fact that "Saved by the Bell" was going to be airing at all. They even put up in place of the "Adult Swim" Logo "Crappy 1980's Live Action TV Show Network" a 1week or more before "Saved by the Bell" started its 2week run.

Hmm, intersting news. If it all works out, I think I'll definitely watch it. I'm very curious to see how this all works out, but I am a bit surprised that all of the cast besides Elizabeth are doing it. Well, besides Dustin...of course he would do it his stand up comedy act was not all that great.

Why?

Everything that airs in "Adult Swim" would really belong in the Cartoon Forum & if they do start airing "Saved by the Bell" in the future it would belong in the TV Forum.

They probably aren't asking her back because of Showgirls. That movie did cheapen her image. It's sad but some directors are like that.

Awsome. Saved by the bell was my favourite show growing up. Still watch it sometimes when re-runs are on TV.
