Sky One is delighted to announce that it has acquired all UK broadcasting rights to one of the most innovative and successful drama series of recent years, 24.
Sky One will be showing Series Three exclusively in the UK from February and has also secured all UK rights to all further series of the show.
Starring Kiefer Sutherland as CTU Agent Jack Bauer, 24 is unique in its portrayal of events in real time. Each episode covers 60 minutes, culminating in a 24-hour day over the course of a season. Series Three takes place three years after the events of the previous series, with President Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) seeking re-election for a second term. However, with the threat of a deadly and highly contagious virus being unleashed on the American public, he once again needs Jack’s help.
Winner of both a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor (Kiefer Sutherland) and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series, 24 is firmly established as a favourite with British viewers. Joining a raft of exciting new US imports such as Nip/Tuck, The Handler, Cold Case, Las Vegas and Jake 2.0, Sky One’s winter schedule reinforces its position of showing the best from the US, first.
James Baker, Controller of Sky One said, “We are enormously excited about the acquisition of 24. It is a truly ground-breaking series and alongside our other quality shows from the US, Sky One is without doubt the destination channel for outstanding drama this winter.”
Sophie Turner Laing, Director of Film Channels and Acquisitions, added “By buying all future series of 24, we are underlining our commitment to show the best American product first in the UK on Sky One.” BSkyB Press Release |
At least Sky One have it now, better than C4 or C5 or even dreaded ITV. I expect Sky to plug the living daylights out of the show. Much more than the BBC (who are WASTING MY LICENSE FEE on sh*t dramas like Sh*teenders, programmes about people fixing gardens, retarded national tests, utter drivel such as gay-idol/retard academy or whatever the f*ck they call it now, movie "premieres" which were shown on Sky 5 years ago and their very own copy of 24 - Spooks which is totally over the top rubbish) ever did.
BBC even lost the rights to the Simpsons - what utter c*cks.
Sky will generate a proper buzz for 24, hyping like it should be hyped. Shame only 50% of the UK TV audience will get to see it premiering. Sky have also got the FTA rights - which they might sell to the cretins who run the terrestrial channels.
