| The long search for an Oscar host is over, with an official announcement from the academy expected to come Thursday morning reports The LA Times. For the moment no one involved with the production will confirm it, but early word is that the job of hosting the 78th Academy Awards will go to Jon Stewart, Emmy-winning writer-host of "The Daily Show". Stewart has experience in this sort of gig, handling hosting duties for the Grammy Awards in 2001 and 2002. Last year's host, Chris Rock, was not asked back; eight-time host Billy Crystal said he declined an invitation because of his busy schedule. Reports claimed negotiations were underway with Whoopi Goldberg and Steve Martin, though those were never confirmed. |

| He won't be as good as on The Daily Show and anything else he's done because they probably won't allow him to be as edgy with his comedy. Or maybe the Oscar people will even write the jokes for him, and thus it will just suck immensely. I won't watch the Oscars, though, because the ratio of Jon Stewart to everything else about the show is looking pretty grim. |
