Damn dude. This show just draws you in by the pain that everyone is going through. Tommy's kid dies and his wife of course blames him. He blames himself and thinks of suicide from time to time. She of course blames him and thinks he doesn't care or have feelings. She turns overboard when he saves a girl on the ledge of a burning building "Oh you can save this girl on some ledge but you can't watch your kid?!" Laura finally decided to leave ladder 62 which to be honest, I don't know why she stuck by for so long. They always treated her like **** because she was a girl in a group of firemen. Kenny got used man.. I knew something was up with that chick. Still, he lost a hell of a lot of money :( Poor Chief Reilly, I mean I felt it when he put his wife in that retirement home. She was like, "you know this isn't right." He's like "I know" Then he drives home and you can feel the pain he has, he didn't want to do it but had no choice. They killed the guy that killed Tommy's kid. Just when he had a change of mind and wanted to stop it. I wonder what will happen to his uncle.

Dude, I LOVE this show. It's one of the best on TV. What about when Tommy finally broke down, at of all times, when he was confronting Shiela's girlfriend about abusing her? The previous episode where Debbie (is that her name?) was beating the hell out of Shiela was actually pretty uncomfortable to watch, it was so realistic. Janet's always been a bi<biga>tch, and even though Tommy has always been an A-Grade slimeball, even he doesn't deserve the crap she's been giving him about their son's death. Although this season, with him telling off Jesus and calling him a pu<biga>ssy, and how they show his whole relationship with Mary Magdalene, has been so wrong it's hilarious. The scene with Garrity and Mike trying to talk to Tommy's youngest daughter was funny and creepy at the same time. They're both idiots, but well-meaning, so it was funny to see Garrity question his faith because a young girl lost faith in God after her brother was killed. Then the scenes with the statue of Mary. Poor Kenny...but I saw it coming. I wasn't surprised that they actually killed the drunk driver, but I do want to see how they handle it next year. Tommy's brother basically told them to go ahead and do it. Poor Jerry...that's probably one of the best depictions of Alzheimer's on TV or movies, though. They really show her progression and symptoms well. I kinda feel sorry for Franco, and I kinda don't. I figure that with Laura leaving, it's kinda like karma coming back to haunt him, since he's been a regular heartbreaker for a long time. That's the brilliant thing about this show, though. No one comes out unscathed. Everyone gets screwed over or left in some kind of pain. 2006 can't come fast enough. [ September 14, 2005, 12:35 AM: Message edited by: Lemmiwinks ]

I was surpsied to find out dennis leary came up with the show and is one of hte executive producers. Just a lot of talent with that guy. Yeah Tommy's brother told him to go ahead and do it and he's a cop... but it makes you wonder how they will get out of it? I mean the whole time I was thinking.. won't they get caught and go to jail for murder?! Especially since it was admitted the guy had a lot of friends. I don't see this coming out safe. Franco deserved it. I believe you are correct.. Karma is a ***** that came back to hit hard. How messed up was that scene where tommy thought of slashing his wrists and falling through that bathroom screen? Jeez that was horrific

Yup, Leary's a talented guy. He and Peter Tolan wrote a lot of episodes this season. They wrote the last one, and they wrote quite a few in the beginning of the season. He's also said that most of their stories come from real-life situations with real firefighters. I'm sure they just cranked them up a notch for TV, but the fact that some of those stories are real is kinda disturbing.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The season finale of Denis Leary's firefighter series "Rescue Me" delivered 3.6 million total viewers for the FX cable channel Tuesday. The episode also delivered 2.4 million viewers aged 18-49, marking the highest tally in the coveted demographic among original series finales so far this year. The "Rescue Me" finale brought its series average to 2.8 million, just above its first-season average. well his cousin died and he was a firefighter so I bet that had an impact in the whole show being created
