i saw this movie this past weekend and i loved it. i didn't find it scary mainly cuz i've seen so many horror movies and tv shows about the kind of stuff seen in the movie.

first of all, this movie isn't your typical haunted house movie. cuz it's not the house being haunted. it's a person. also it's not a ghost. it's a demon, at least that's what Katie is told by the psychic in the movie.

yes the movie is scary, at least i got that from the crowd reaction. i enjoyed it, cuz it's my type of movie. but this movie is all about a young woman being tormented by an evil entity and she along with her boyfriend are powerless to stop it. the movie is also about the several stages of a woman who is slowly being possessed. i actually saw this coming at a certain point of the film. i kinda figured this out thanks to watching way too many paranormal tv shows.

so katie's boyfriend, the kind of guy who doesn't ask for directions, decides that he wants to take matters into his own hands. through out the movie he does things that make you want to slap him. stupid things. he starts to challenge the entity, party cuz he's skeptical and the other cuz he's an idiot. when he starts to realize that there are strange things happening, he starts to want to use a ouija board. something katie doesn't want him to do. but he does although he never gets a chance to use it.

the entity starts out slow. making small noises, moving things. that sort of thing. eventually, it moves on to opening and closing doors and then making loud banging noises. footsteps are heard but nothing is ever seen. micah decides to put talcum powder all over the floor and see if he can catch footprints. they do. it's kinda creepy watching the footprints appear as it's being recorded. the entity is playing around with them. it also seems that katie has always been followed by it since she was 8 years old. the entity presents itself in shadow form on camera and it also causes the ouija board to catch on fire which leaves a strange message behind.

katie starts to get up in the middle of the night and she stands in place for hours without moving as she just stares at her boyfriend while he sleeps. she doesn't even remember doing this. bed sheets are moved as the two sleep. katie has nightmares. loud noises shake the house. the best scene in the movie had the entire theater freaking out. the entire crowd started yelling and screaming. i was on the edge of my seat. i'm not saying what happened in the scene. you all need to see it. but it's the kind of scene that would make you afraid to sleep in the dark. but i will say that you know something big is going to happen when you see lights going on and off in the hallway and hear weird noises.

as for the ending, i liked it. i've read where other people don't enjoy it. but i though it was fitting. i think people were expecting something to be resolved by the end. but c'mon this is obviously not that type of film. if you've seen the trailer, the part of something running towards the camera is a part of that. but unlike another movie like quarantine, which spoiled the ending by showing it in their trailer, this isn't the actual final shot of the film. what follows that shot from the trailer is creepy as hell. i'm not saying what it is. also this movie doesn't have any end credits. the movie only has 5 characters. they are micah, katie, katie's best friend, the psychic, and the unseen entity.

i loved the movie and want to see it again. although i wish they could have included katie's little sister who is mentioned as also seeing the entity when she was about 5 years old. i also wish they could have said more about the other woman, i think her name was diana, who died after going through the same experiances katie is going through. the movie does a great job of showing how katie's personality changes. she's so happy and full of life at the start but by the end of the movie, she a completely different person. trust me on that one. the movie is also short. about 86 minutes.
