Plot Summary:

The Punisher should be able one of the easiest comic book characters to adapt. He doesn't dress up like a bat, spider or grow into a giant green monster yet Batman, Spider-Man and The Hulk all have had considerable more success than Frank Castle. It's sad when a Dolph Lundgren led movie is the best of your franchise. Director Lexi Alexander wanted to change all that with PUNISHER: WAR ZONE and it looked as if she were on the right track until Lionsgate reportedly fired her from her duties as director. Now Latino Review is reporting that Lionsgate is working to trim down Alexander's footage to a PG-13 rating.

The Punisher uses guns and violently kills people. How can this be PG-13? But then again this is the same studio that dumped MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN to make room for DISASTER MOVIE and BANGKOK DANGEROUS. Awesome! One day someone will make an indie version of THE PUNISHER that will kick all kinds of ass and people will scratch their heads and go, "Now was that so hard?" Maybe if we all give Lionsgate a big BOO-URNS loud enough it'll start to sink in...

The whole PUNISHER: WAR ZONE kafuffle has taken another twist, as now everything is great! According to the film's cinematographer, Steve Gainer, all of that **** that we heard about this movie before was completely fallacious.

Lexi is not off the film... Lexi is still involved in the edit process... The film is not (nor could it ever be) PG-13... Today I saw a cut that ran 91 minutes... Lexi did in fact get married... When I hear vicious unfounded troll rumors like the "film was unwatchable" or "a total mess" it makes my blood boil... it's like saying a baby will be ugly before it is born, I can't freaking wait for this film to come out and prove the nay-sayers wrong.

Whatever. I'm not buying it. Lexi Alexander is like Anne freaking Heche. Is she in or out? This whole thing is a fiasco. They should have cast Thomas Jane as the lead from the get-go. After that they could have gotten Gob from Arrested Development to direct it, and a wild bear that Lionsgate found loose on their lot to do the promotion -- I'm pretty sure it would have ended up less of a farce than this.

Despite the insanely bloody footage shown at Comic Con this summer, there was a lot of drama around PUNISHER: WAR ZONE , mainly rumors that director Lexi Alexander had been booted and the studio wanted the movie to shoot blanks with a PG-13 rating.

Turns out there was no cause for alarm -- Frank Castle will be blasting meaty chunks out of organized crime with a firm 'R' rating "for pervasive strong brutal violence, language and some drug use".

The movie is due in December, just in time for the holidays! Lock and load, ho, ho, ho.

If you haven't seen it yet, the official site also has the latest trailer, which has more focus on villain Jigsaw.
