Default "Transformers 2", Roll Out!!

"Transformers 2" Barricade(s) Spotted
Source: Derek
March 28, 2008

Internet Business Daily has posted a few photos of three Saleens with the Barricade decals being towed around in Culver City. Is Michael Bay getting ready to start shooting the Transformers sequel already?

"Transformers" Vehicles Rolling Out
Source: Superhero Hype!
April 2, 2008

Last week, it was Barricade, and this week Optimus Prime was spotted on L.A.'s 405 being moved to a new location. Is Michael Bay getting ready to start shooting Transformers 2 already? Or perhaps they are doing some early shots for the sequel? The last we heard is that Bay and DreamWorks/Paramount were targeting an early June start for the follow-up so that they could make the June 26, 2009 release date.

IESB Exclusive: "Transformers 2" Character Breakdowns Plus New Decepticons!
Written by Robert Sanchez
Thursday, 03 April 2008

With a sequel to the mega-hit Transformers coming, fans everywhere are excited about seeing old friends again on the big screen. OK BIG SPOILER WARNING PEOPLE! BEWARE...

The big questions are who will be back and what new characters will we see? Which new heroes and baddies will we get to see on the big screen this time around?

There has been some web speculation that Transformers 2 is already in production, that is not accurate, it's public knowledge that Michael Bay worked on the script during the WGA strike and once it was over it was handed over to the writing trio of Kurtzman/Orci/Kruger. So a lot of prep work has already been done on the film getting ready for the upcoming July start date, the film is definitely gearing up for the intended mid-summer start date.

Now, on with the ROBOT ROLL CALL!

First, the Decepticons will be getting some new help in the form of Constructicons. In the cartoons, their names were Scrapper, Bonecrusher, Scavenger, Mixmaster, Hook and Long Haul. And what do we get when they all combine and form one huge ass robot? That’s right boys and girls, we are going to see DEVASTATOR on the big screen!

A REALLY BIG F*CKING ROBOT IS COMING!

It's hard to tell what Michael Bay and his merry band of filmmaker friends will be calling the Constructicons in Transformers 2, but the above names will most likely change, especially considering that they used the name "Bonecrusher" in the first film.

Fan Art Image courtesy the creative minds at Rise Studio

In addition to the Constructicon news, the IESB has just been given the following human character/casting breakdowns -

[CHUCK] 19-25 yrs., Sam's roommate at Princeton. He runs a conspiracy theory website. Funny in an irreverent, edgy way, he is shocked to see his conspiracy theories come to life. (2nd Lead)

[U.S. MILITARY LEADER] Late 20s/early 30s, African American with a great sense of humor and a tough military presence. (Supporting lead)

[UK SPECIAL FORCES LEADER] British, in his early to mid 30s, smart and capable. Can be Caucasian, Black, East Indian. (Supporting lead)

[GALLOWAY] Early 40s-early 50s, male, National Security Advisor and presidential liaison. A curt man who is tightly wound. (Supporting Lead)

[PROFESSOR COLAN] 40s, Sam's physics professor at Princeton. He's a self-satisfied intellectual who compares himself to Einstein, and is arrogant enough to wear leather pants to look cool. (1 Scene)

[THERESA] Early 30s; she's Sgt. Epps' wife, has 4 kids, sassy and sexy, good with comedy. Submit African American actresses only

[MOMMA SIMMONS] This NY Momma is in her late 60s / early 70s. She runs a deli/ butcher shop with her son in Brooklyn. Tough and sarcastic. (1 Scene)

[MASSIVE DYNAMICS CEO] 50s, male, this Corporate CEO appears in front of congress to testify. (1 speech/scene)

[TEXAS CONGRESSMAN] 55-65 yrs., on a Congressional Committee investigating the purpose of the "Automated Defensive Initiative" developed by Massive Dynamics.

[FBI DIRECTOR] Mid 50s, male, giving a press release assuring the public they will be safe against attacks. (1 speech/scene)

[CNN REPORTER] Reporting on missile strikes and bombings in various cities. Submit male / female, all ethnicities (1 speech)

On a related note, there is a rumor circulating on the Don Murphy message boards that Natassia Malthe has been cast aleady in Transformers 2, but we haven't not gotten any confirmation on that tidbit, so that's pure speculation at this point.

We have reached out to Paramount Pictures as well as to different members of the production company to confirm the above story, but they have not yet responded to our requests.

As soon as we hear something from our friends at the studio we will let you know!

Not sure on the exact date these were taken, just posting them to prove they are going ahead with filming or getting things together to start filming at some point.

Cool! I can't wait for this movie. Well, mostly because it's another Shia Labeouf movie, but the movie was really good.

Who's Returning for "Transformers 2"?
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
May 29, 2008

There's been a lot of questions about who from the first film will return for Transformers 2, which hits theaters on June 26, 2009 release.

We knew that Shia LaBeouf would be back and that Isabel Lucas and Rainn Wilson (playing a college professor to LaBeouf's new undergrad) had been added, but now The Hollywood Reporter has also confirmed that Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro will reprise their roles in the Michael Bay sequel.

The story was conceived by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who wrote last year's Transformers, as well as Ehren Kruger, who wrote the screenplay. Filming began in Los Angeles in recent weeks and is moving to Pennsylvania on June 2nd and then overseas.

Autobot Jazz Returning for "Transformers 2"?
Source: Colin
May 31, 2008

At the beginning of the year, director Michael Bay said that Jazz wouldn't be back for Transformers 2, but it looks like things have changed. TFW2005.com writes:

The Pontiac Solstice vehicle prop of Autobot Jazz arrived on the set of Transformers 2 earlier today. In addition we've received confirmation from a second tipster that Darius McCrary, the voice of Movie Jazz, is now on set as well.

It hasn't been officially confirmed yet if it will be in 3D or not. The only thing that has been confirmed is that it was listed on the 2008 ShoWest List of Films that were going to be in 3D.

20 Robots in "Transformers 2"?
Source: Sp@wn
June 2, 2008

Screenwriter Roberto Orci has made a interesting post on Don Murphy's message board about Transformers 2 that reads:

I'd love and think we could almost barely manage ten on each side, with some front and center and others as more supporting.

Do you think we'll really see 20 robots in the sequel? Let us know below.

Meanwhile, The Daily Pennsylvanian is reporting that filming will take place on the Penn campus, including a previously-mentioned location. Here's a clip:

University spokeswoman Lori Doyle explained that filming would tentatively begin around June 12 with scenes using the exterior of the Quad.

According to Doyle, the extensive project is expected to involve about 200 people, 25 tractor-trailer trucks and cranes.

"They have their own landscaping people, they bring in their own catering, it's a huge operation," she said.

In addition, scenes will be shot at Psi Upsilon Tau fraternity house, better known as "The Castle," and possibly on Locust Walk and Spruce Street, Doyle said.

revenge of the fallen? what does the fallen signify? does it mean the returning decepticons who lost last time out? or does it stand for another race of transformers simply known as "the fallen"?

well some call sheets have been leaked out. also the movie will be officially called "transformers: revenge of the fallen". there is no 2 in the title.

as for new transformers these were leaked out....
Arcee - a motorcycle, probably like the toy version that was released earlier this year.

The Twins - i'm pretty sure this isn't the real name of the robot but it's an ice cream truck that can split up in two and fire weapons.

Stinger - possibly a porche but not confirmed.

R8 - this is just a audi R8 and not the name of the robot. a version of this car was driven by tony stark in iron man.

Wheels (or wheelbot) - possibly a go kart of some kind.

Jetfire - a blackbird jet compared to the original white and red one from the cartoon.

and of course the constructicons. various robots that combine to form the devestator (not the tank from the first movie).

as for human characters:

Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson will return, as will of course Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. Added to the list are Matthew Marsden, Andrew Howard and Ramon Rodriguez. Also, LaBeouf and Fox were scheduled to film at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC June 5th and 6th. The scene seems to center around searching for something in the museum related to the Decepticons.

and this is the call sheet that reveals various spoilers:
clicky...
