(UPDATE: Strike is Over) Is The Screenwriter's Strike True?

Is it true that some movie thing is going on strike and that we won't have movies for a while? I hope it's not true or that they aren't on strike for very long. Have they ever done something like this before? I hope they fix it. I want my "Transformers 2"!!!

Good grief, don't panic. The screen writers (Writer's Guild of America) have voted to strike beginning on Monday. The first shows affected will be the talk shows. In general, serials have already been filmed for this season and with the exception of the aforementioned talk shows, all should continue uninterrupted until 2008.

TV shows are premake up untill about mid season. Movies in production will get delayed if the strike lasts long.

i believe the script treatment for transformers 2 is already done. i think it was rebelman who posted a link to it a while back. it's basically the entire story and it introduces new transformers into the sequel. like soundwave, hot rod, and it contains a fight between starscream and megatron. the thing is even though it's a treatment, it wasn't fleshed out and there really was no dialouge. at least is seems that half of the story has been done. just be glad that indy 4 is coming out so there won't be a shia void for you.

The Writers Guild of America went on strike this morning after an eleven-hour negotiations broke down with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Picketing will start in New York and Los Angeles

Its a big issue that may take long to get through. The studios are afraid that if they give into the writers demands, that they will also have to give into the Screen Actors Guild's demands in mid 2008.

Theres nobody really to help. Its studios vs writers. Some actors have been trying to help a bit. Also the state of California and the US government has sent in teams of negotiators to try to help, but its not like that can have much effect.

As I stated in another thread, there is more to life than TV. Read a book, watch a DVD, go to the movies, go to a live performance or concert - the Christmas season is fast approaching - buy me a Christmas present!

If the writers are on strike, there won't be new movies for much longer to go see. But I just hope that they work everything out. Isn't it just because of the money? If so, I don't understand what the big deal is. Why can't they just fix the money situation and then move on?

I watched the video on youtube and everything makes a whole lot more sense now. But I don't see what the big deal is. And doesn't the TV/Movie companies loss money since they are on strike? The fix seems very simple. All they want is a raise. Which, if it wasn't for them, there'd be no TV. So they deserve a raise.

I'm so happy! Yahoo.com just posted up that the writers are going to start negotiating again on Nov. 26th! So hopefully they can agree on something and get back to work so the shows don't run out of episodes (at least the shows I watch don't run out of episodes). I'm just so happy to hear this!!!!
