But alas, Neil Blomkamp has pretty much confirmed that the HALO movie is dead. The big screen adaptation of the insanely popular XBox title looked to be moving along nicely for a while, but with concerns over an escalating budget, it looks like the studios have finally and ultimately pulled the plug. "The film is entirely dead. In the configuration it was in. Whatever happens with that movie, assuming that movie gets made, will be a totally different configuration. It's not so much me as the entire vessel sank…" Blomkamp told Creativity Online. Which sucks, I thought the work he did on those shorts was fantastic and boded wonderfully for the HALO movie. Blomkamp was also asked about the much more realistic depiction of sci-fi that he was pursuing, saying that "I was going to push that as far as [I could] until the studios kind of threw a noose around me. I was going to go as far with that as I possibly could. I wanted it to feel like the most brutal, real version of science fiction in a war environment that you've seen in a while. And Universal was on board with that. I don't really remember what Fox thought about it, but Universal seemed down with it. It would have been cool, it would have been a unique take on things, science fiction in a dirty, organic way." Click HERE to check out the rest of the interview. |

| Looks like Starship Troopers. Well, I'm sure someone with balls will pick it up and breathe live into it again. At least we have these clips to give a glimpse to what it was almost going to be. Sh!t, now I'm going to have to buy the game. I was looking forward to the movie so I wouldn't have to. I'll wait a year, or two. Last edited by Avis Phlox : 10-05-2007 at 11:05 PM. |

| Ga-ga for Love & Lacey ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | as much as i love the multiplayer madness of Halo, I do admit it's so very very overrated. I never understood the story and think the Master Chief character is so bland. It would of been interesting if they attempted to make the movie like the first two Alien movies (ie more horror than action) |

| Ya Rly! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The reason I like the Halo story is most likely because of the timeliness of it. The Covenant are a bunch of religious fanatics who want to obliterate anything they see as an "infidel." Sound familiar? Halo's ultimate function is something pretty unique, also. The books expand on the universe a bit, especially on what the Master Chief went through to become the way he is. That alone could make for an interesting movie. |

| Member ![]() ![]() | The Halo story may be a lot deeper than you think - in fact, i'd argue that you can't truly appreciate Halo until you've sunk your teeth into the storyline. There's a huge amount of plot and history behind the Halo universe, all of which I've found to be worthwhile. It obviously doesn't feature ultra-long story sequences like Metal Gear Solid, Bungie have simply taken a different approach - they've left a lot of the story untold for you to research it online or in the books if you're really interested. Some of Cortana's more minor references in Halo 3 are impossible to understand without reading the novels - Bungie are very subtle, deep storytellers, but package it in a deceptively simple story that casual fans can grasp and enjoy. I recommend reading this thread. It lays out the history of the Halo universe really well. |
