Shuler Donner on "X-Men 4" and More

"X-Men" executive producer Lauren Shuler Donner talked to LA Daily News about X-Men 4, for which they would have to renegotiate with the bigger stars, and also Wolverine and Magneto:

"The newer cast members are signed, and the older cast members are not." Considering the older names involved -- Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Romijn, Famke Janssen and Anna Paquin -- that could run into a huge chunk of money.

All that's putting the cart before the wolverine, of course, since Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his role as the manicure-challenged mutant superhero in his own film. "Next, we're going to do 'Wolverine,' but not before the end of the year because he's in the Baz Luhrmann film," she says of the filmmaker's untitled Australian epic with Nicole Kidman. However, "We have the script and are working on it."

Shuler Donner reports, "We also have 'Young Magneto' in development."

What it means is that certain ones that were in "X-Men" & "X2" that had a little bit bigger role in "X3" will be back for a 4th if it happens, but because Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Romijn, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, Ian McKellan, & Patrick Stewart are such Big Stars(how much it would cost the Studio to pay them if they all do a 4th "X-Men") have not signed on(yet) if the Studio does decide to make a 4th. The Studio is waiting to see what happens with the Wolverine Movie & the Magneto Movie before seeing if the Big Stars will sign any deal for a 4th "X-Men". So yes that means Shawn will probably be back for the 4th if it happens.

Thank-you! I hope this is true. Shawn isn't that big of an actor and so he might not want that much money.

I wonder who will direct #4 if and when they decide to make it. Will they give Ratner another shot at it? I know he's going to be busy with Rush Hour 3 now that Chris Tucker has signed on.

Since Ratner f'ed X3 like a prison inmate, I really hope they don't give him X4.

I also think it's a bad idea to make all the movies revolve around Wolverine. There's a lot more they could do, and with so many characters and stories to base films on, they could possibly introduce new characters and drop old ones pretty easily if they got the right creative team.

Like, say, bring back Cyclops and Jean Grey, develop Angel, introduce Mr. Sinister, and end it with Apocalypse showing up and turning Angel into Archangel. Big-ass fight climax ensues. Studio reaps benefits.

God, X3 sucked HARD.

I think they need more Leech and the Morlocks. They are the best mutants to use for showing mutant oppression.

Yeah, bring back at least cyclops. I can't beleive that there were angel scenes that were cut from the film, it made him a totally pointless character to even include with the way he was presented.

the freakier looking mutants who live in the NY sewer systems, who are led by Callisto (she was in x3 but she sucked and i dont remember callisto being super fast or feeling the presence of other mutants). storm defeats callisto and becomes the new leader though shes never there.

I think the Callisto or whatever in the movie was actually two mutants added together.

I think she was supposed to be Callisto and Psylocke, or something. Who knows. Ratner probably could have turned in a better movie if he hadn't spent most of his time trying to bang Lindsay Lohan...as if that was hard.

I hope they all come back and I also hope that X4 longer then X3 it was alittle to short if ask me
