I'm trying to remember, as I saw the movie last night and really enjoyed it but I have some questions.

Well...

My main question is to do with sexuality. Bear with me cos I did watch it while drinking, but it appeared that the people persecuted and murdered by the state were all gay (or did I read that wrong)... so was V gay?

Amd what was the man that was V before he became V imprisoned for? And he was experimented on? Is this how he became so strong?

And was it a coincidence that V was there to rescue Evey the night they met?

Sorry if my questions have obvious answers. I watched the film not knowing anything about it and though it was stunning, but it left me with a rather puzzled head.

The state sorted acted the way the Nazis did, going after not only homosexuals, but people of colour, old age, etc. So V could've been any one of these, but it's never said. In the comic, we're sometimes led on to think we know stuff about him, but we're not really supposed to know anything other than what he stands for.

He was experimented on, and that's what gave him his speed and strength. I think they made him seem a little more superhuman in the movie, though, but you get the idea.

As for the coincidence of their meeting, I'm not sure. It doesn't seem like he had any need of being out there.

OK, thanks for clearing that up. I guessed V was more of a 'statement' than an individual.

So, do I remember reading that the V comics are fairly out there in terms of content? Like some of the most offensive comics around? Or am I confusing it with something else?

Oh, and was it filmed on location on London or was there a lot of clever special effects / green screen stuff going on? I don't remember seeing anything in the media here about the filming, and from the looks of it they would have shut down some major parts of the city for filming.

How was the movie received in the USA?

The Wachowski brothers (the writers) have had things like chance vs fate running through most of their movies. They've never really clarified the argument one way or t'other. They leave it up to the audience. Though seeing that you're a Lost fan, an Ecko quote springs to mind: "Don't mistake coincedence for fate."

At least some of the film was filmed in London. How do I know? Allow me to present the evidence...

It was supposed to be released on the 5th of November last year, but the 7/7 bombings meant it got postponed.

It's not offensive, but it's a little controversial. Political things tend to have that happen to them.

Big movie like this was most likely done in different places. For sure on location in London, as well as sound stages with smaller sets and green screen work.

I've been reading up on the internet (it's a marvelous invention isn't it?) - apparently they were only allowed to film outside of Parliament from midnight to 4.30 am and only allowed to stop traffic for four minutes at a time.

So, anyway, I really enjoyed this movie. Thanks for the help with my questions guys

That seems about right for central London, no matter what the activity. Try erecting a tower crane there and you'll find yourself working through the night too.
