| Member of Sylar's Army ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | no spoilers, nothing that will ruin a movie. just came back from seeing the 10pm showing of superman returns and it was amazing. the theater was packed and the geeks were all out in full force in their superman shirts. when the lights went down the theater erupted in applause and then the spidey 3 teaser played. a couple of trailers passed and then finally the movie started. after krypton is shown exploding the superman theme starts to play and everyone went nuts. people were clapping their hands off. so now the movie started slowly going from the kent farm to metropolis and eventually to the new continent created by lex. there were high and there were lows. brandon routhe was great as superman and spacey was evil as luthor. only prob i had was that lex and supes never really cross paths till the end. kate bosworth was good as lois lane but she didn't have that spice that margot kidder had. as for the kid well he was not annoying like most kids are in these kinds of movies and he was likeable. bryan singer did a great job of trying to put this movie in with the richard donner ones. the reaction of the crowd once the end credits started to roll was more applause and cheers. the crowd was made up of all ages. most of the young crowd (young girls) were there because of the smallville show. they were talking about it while waiting in line. it was strange though because people were cheering and clapping when the movie ended and then it got quiet. like if someone had just died. but it was mainly cuz they were impressed by the movie. so go see it cuz it won't dissappoint. |

| It's not necessary at all. It is a sequel of sorts to the first movie, but it doesn't draw on much story-wise from that movie. All you really need to know from the first movie is Superman's origins (which everybody knows anyway), the fact that he and Lois had a thing going on, and that Lex went to jail. The only reason I'd watch the original movie to prepare for this movie is to see how the new actors carry over the personalities. I thought Routh had a very good Christopher Reeve impersonation of Clark Kent (his Superman was a little lacking, but still charming like Reeve when he smiles and says "Goodnight, Lois" and then flies off) and Kevin Spacey was pretty charismatic and cocky at times like Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor. Anyway, I liked this movie, but I think I expected too much and it didn't live up to everything I had hoped for. So it's not the best superhero movie ever, but it's cool and I would definitely watch it again. Chris Reeve is still my Superman, though. I mean, since he was impersonating the Reeve Superman, Routh didn't even stand a chance at becoming a better Superman. My only complaint was that Lois was way too serious all the time. She needed to be more spunky. At least she was committed to her work and still daring. |

I'll let my family know that we don't really have to watch the other ones before we see the new one. Lex went to jail? Why? I know he almost did in "Lois and Clark", but then he killed himself. So all you need to know is where Superman came from? I know that from watching "Smallville" and "Lois and Clark". Quote:

| Member ![]() ![]() | Silverspoon, I saw the Tuesday night sneak peek too. The reaction in my movie theater mimicked yours. The crowd cheered like crazy when the big S shield appeared on the screen in the beginning. What did you think of Jimmy Olsen? I liked his performance the best out of the supporting cast. Kitty was pretty funny too. I thought Brandon's Clark Kent was better than Chris Reeve's. This new Clark was more nerdish and a lot less clumsy. Being to clumsy draws too much attention. | Member of Sylar's Army ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | clark was super clumsy in the original, but not alot in the 2nd movie. i didn't have to see the first two movies before i went to see this new one. seen them too many times. this movie does take place after superman 2 and there's a line where kitty says something like "seems like you've been here before" when lex and the gang arrive at the fortress of solitude. of course he has. but no you don't need to see the first movies, that is unless you're not familiar with the backstory to the movie version. smallville tries to stick close to the movie but it has strayed away a little and created it's own mythology. |

Lois was so so, I thought she couldve been better. 9/10 looking forward to the next movie, we all know its coming... Last edited by Dark Dude; 06-29-2006 at 02:59 AM.. |

Jimmy was pretty good. He has this look in his eyes all the time that makes him seem so clueless. There were some good funny moments in this movie with Jimmy and Clark. Everything with Jimmy was pretty much comic relief, but I loved whenever Clark just smiled dorkily and waved. It was hilarious. | |

But Brandon Routhe did a much better job then I expected, I didnt like the choice at first but her really did a great job. Cool effects. The movie is definitely good and worth seeing but it missed something that could have made it a great movie. Not the best comic book movie I have seen recently. The reaction of the crowd at my theater was small and it was packed, no claps at the end. There was a person in a Superman costume, cape, boots, and all. Smallvilleisdabomb if your taking the story line from "The New Adventures of Lois and Clark" you might get confused. I has nothing to do with anything that happened in that TV show. You dont have to see the movies, but that show only helps to confuse you with 2 different storylines. We all saw the Spiderman preview, im not too excited about a 3rd one. | Yeah, that was one of those funny scenes. Also when Richard was asking about Superman, and then asked about Clark's height and all that, comparing the two. Then he just looks over and does that dorky wave. Haha, I love Clark. |

| Member ![]() ![]() | I saw it again for a second time. I forgot how funny this movie is. Some of the scenes that stood out: - The dorky wave Clark gave to Lois when they were in the crowded elevator. - Near the beginning of the movie when Clark threw the baseball and the poor dog tried to locate it. - Kitty returning to the mansion only to find one dog left. "Wasn't there two of them?" - Lois Lane telling Perry White, "Chief, I've already done Superman." There's just too many funny scenes to list. |

So just rent the first one, then? Thanks for the help! ![]() P.S. I have never seen the older movies before at all and so it might be wize to rent the first one. Thank-you so much for letting me know, though! That's exactly what I wanted to know. Maybe I can see if someone can go down and rent it and we can watch it before we see it on Sunday (if we see it on Sunday). Thanks again! ![]() Quote:

| Member of Sylar's Army ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yes there were many funny scenes through out the movie. when kitty asks lex what are they going to eat, then lex looks at the dog. and the fact that a kid with cell phone takes two pictures of superman that are better than jimmy's tiny dot in the sky. i can't wait to find this one available for download. |

I agree that Lex & Supes should of had a bigger fight than they did, but I see why it was done the way it was. Lois's Kid was a nice touch. (HINT, HINT) Singer did a great job bringing back Superman & reintroducing him to the Newer Generation/Generations to come. I really hope that Warner Bros. made him sign a very binding contract to direct the next 2 since Routh & Bosworth signed on for a total of 3. I think Spacey did too, but I'm not sure. I'm also really glad that this: "This Film is Dedicated to & in Loving Memory of Christopher Reeve & Dana Reeve" Was there as promised right after the Cast List rolled. Also who else noticed Sir Richard Branson on the Space Shuttle? |

| Wasn't Singer just signed for this movie? But there's no doubt, if they want to do another, they'll get him. He's probably interested anyway. It's not like Tim Burton losing interest with Batman. I kinda thought the thing with Lois' kid was a pointless subplot. Oh yeah, and I don't like Superman coming into my city. Doesn't belong there. For one thing, he stands out too much. Anyone else notice that Superman never threw a punch? Even when he thwarted the gunner on the roof, they didn't show what he actually did to him. Never got a shot in on Luthor...barely even said anything to him. |
