Now I do agree with Loto. But I wasn't going to bring this topic up until I after I saw "X3" to see if it was true & it is true. Through out many years when I've seen just a Teaser Trailer for a Movie or just a Trailer instead of a Teaser Trailer it has always been the way to determine if I see a Movie in the Theater or just wait for the DVD. Now I know that having more Trailers plus TV Spots help bust the hype about a specific type of Movie or specific Movie, but it seems the more time goes this is done with almost every Big Movie that will be released. So I raise this question: If you see every different Trailer & TV Spot for a specific type of Movie or specific Movie, does that mean you've seen the entire Movie before you ever go see it in the Theater when it is finally released? | |

| I don't think so. For one thing, trailers and TV spots generally use a lot of the same footage over and over, in different orders with different voice overs and maybe a few different snippets here and there. TV spots are about 30 seconds, trailers maybe 2 minutes. Using X-Men 3 as an example, sure, you could probably guess correctly at what the story is just by watching trailers, but you miss out on a lot. For instance, the shot of Professor X and Storm on the balcony. I saw a TV spot where it was shown for all of half a second, but had I not seen the movie I would not know what it was all about. Judging by the dark sky and the confrontational way they were facing each other you could draw all sorts of conclusions. Not much of the Phoenix scenes were even shown. Heck, it's possible some people might not even notice Jean. I didn't see well enough when the first trailer hit, and I thought it was Scarlet Witch because of the crimson red clothing. So you could figure out the general storyline from trailers, because a lot of the time that's what they want you to do. Otherwise people will know jacksh*t and won't want to see it. But you miss out on the little things like conversations between characters that might be important to the story, key action scenes, etc. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think that far too much is shown before the movies are released nowadays. I find that you get more excited beforehand in many cases and it lessens the impact of the film itself. I definitely found this with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I am just glad that I actively avoided all the pre-release material from X3 in the 3 weeks prior to release. Such as the 7 minute preview - thats absurd lol. :p |
