Bryan Singer may not direct the remake of "Logan's Run" after all. Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver want to start lensing the sci-fi pic this fall, which would mean Singer might end up shooting two tentpoles -- "Logan's" and a "Superman Returns" sequel -- back-to-back. No one begrudges Singer for seeking a break from big-budget projects, although the filmmaker probably won't make an official decision either way about "Logan's Run" until "Superman Returns" bows in July. Assuming Singer's take on the [Man of Steel] is a crowd-pleaser, Warners plans to start shooting the sequel in the later part of 2007, with Singer again at the helm. Even if he doesn't direct "Logan's Run," Singer is still likely to play some sort of role and perhaps take a producer's credit. Silver has been developing the project for some time now, with input from Singer. There's been buzz that "V For Vendetta" director James McTeigue might step in and helm "Logan's Run," but at this point it's just rumor. |

He hadn't concluded a deal to do it yet, which he said is always "iffy," but he has every intention to do a sequel for 2009, and said that while Superman Returns reintroduced the character for new people, the next one will let him get all "Wrath of Khan on it." He added that you can expect an alien villain in the sequel. He also joked that he has to see who's left in the cast if he ever were to return to the "X-Men" franchise. Ironically, right before being asked about it, he had been joined on the dias by original Superman director Richard Donner, whose wife Lauren Shuler Donner produced the first two "X-Men" movies. |

Exclusive: Singer on "Superman" Sequel & DVD Source: Scott Chitwood July 22, 2006 ComingSoon.net/SuperheroHype.com got to talk exclusively to Superman Returns director Bryan Singer on Friday and we asked him about the possible sequel, the DVD and what he's planning on doing next: CS/SHH: Is the sequel going to happen? Singer: Yes, probably for a 2009 release. CS/SHH: You planted a lot of seeds in the first film, what do you want to cover in the second film? Singer: I'd like to build on the seeds that are planted, you know, expand upon relationships, you've got now a child, you've got these other elements, but also have the opportunity to have the characters more established to bring in some more action and have some more stuff going on. CS/SHH: In the comic adaptation there were little hints that the New Krypton settled into orbit. Singer: Yeah, New Krypton has got these crystals on it, so anything's possible. CS/SHH: What do you have in store for us on the DVD? Singer: A number of things. There's the in-movie experience where during the movie you'll be able to pop-off to the set and see things live as they were shot. There's things like that. Plus we had a continuous presence of video on the set to the point... there's a lot of funny, interesting, kind of theater that you don't get to ordinarily see in the documentary material and then there will be deleted scenes. CS/SHH: Do you want to do the entire sequel in 3-D? Singer: I'd like to do more, I don't know how that whole experience would work out, depends how long the film is, it will probably be shorter. CS/SHH: What's next for you? Singer: Possibly a smaller film and a grand vacation. | |

| Member ![]() ![]() | The box office numbers for Superman Returns maybe a little disappointing but in no way should anyone consider it a huge money loss. The film cost $206 million to make. So far it has made $250 million worldwide. It will easily make more than $300 million before the end of it's box office run. And that's not including DVD sales. |

Its still not a good return for all that money spent ether 206 or 260. And the money figures only matter against the US box office. International requires aditional money to distribute and advertise, in most countries the rights are sold to other distributers, those numbers arnt good ether. In the end though it wont lose, its got products, games, and promotions to get money from. Last edited by open32; 07-23-2006 at 12:32 AM.. |
