Lucia di Lammermoor (1986) - 7/10 - Gaetano Donazetti's opera takes place in Scotland in the late sixteenth century. Lucy (Lucia) is secretly in love with Edgar (Edguardo), master of Ravenswood and sworn enemy of Lucia's brother Lord Aston of Lammermoor. Aston forces Lucy to marry Lord Arthur Backlaw for financial reasons. She kills her husband and is driven mad finally succumbing to despair. Dame Joan Sutherland, whose career was made by this role, sings the part of Lucy.

Mirrors (2008) - 6/10 - Normally horror films are not screened for critics because critics generally dish horror films. Well this one is definitely above the average teen/slasher/psychotic/frightfest until the last three minutes. Actually I would have rated it 8/10 except for the rediculous and over-the-top final few minutes. What were they thinking? Oh the scene where Amy Smart rips her jaw open in the bathtub - its pretty much worth the price of admission.
