The acting is as bad as expected. There are a couple great scenes but that doesn't constitute a good film. It's a forced sequal film made out of Kevin Smith's loyalty to the original film that broke him into the industry. To me, Chasing Amy and Clerks worked because they were movies that reflected where KM was in his life, and I wrote off any flaws (bad acting, poor direction/editing) because of the overwhelming sincerity. You can feel the desperation of a few friends trying to stretch a 27,000 dollar budget in Clerks. That's my take on it. Kevin Smith has much more talent than this. It's gonna get a lot of 8th graders pumped tho. Last edited by Captain Beefheart; 07-28-2006 at 01:20 PM.. |

Not that this was a horribly bad movie, but I had such high expectations that it didnt come close to filling. I was looking forward to it as one of the best movies of the year. It has no cool car sense like the preview showed. Not enough action. Good story line but to much time was spent showing arbitrary things and building character connections, while the two main characters weren’t really developed well. 2h 40min movie, time was spent on the wrong things. 6/10 John Tucker Must Die - This movie was only ok. About as much as I expected going into it. I have seen better of this type of movie, light girly comedy. Movie in general was not written funny. Brittany Snow surprised me, I really liked her in this movie. She was Cute and Funny. >Goes off to find thread in starlets. 6/10 Last edited by open32; 08-04-2006 at 02:52 AM.. |

| 4 weddings was good? NOTTING HILL RULES,even though julia roberts is FILTH! she doesnt deserve my Hugh. He's far too charming. "My Life So Far" 8/10 Colin Firth rules. he might be Kevin Kline but thats all right with me. It's based on the memoirs of Sir Denis Forman, former director of the Rioyal Opera House in London and was a founding member of the Granada television franchise. But the movie has nothing to do with that. It's really very well done, true story or not. It's about a young boy and his kind of weird family and his childhood on a huge estate in post WWI Scotland. At least I think it was Scotland. They definitely sound Scottish. Did I mention Colin Firth?! Oh yeah and malcolm McDowell. He plays his millionaire brother Last edited by darko.; 08-04-2006 at 08:06 AM.. |

| The Inner Light ![]() ![]() ![]() | Dead Man's Shoes *mild spoilers* Paddy Considine's Richard is an ex-soldier hell bent on revenge against a group of down-and-out misfits, executing them one by one. While away on service, Richard's mentally challenged brother, Anthony, falls in with the wrong crowd, who jump at the chance to exploit his innocence. The film begins with Richard confronting the first of the tormentors, and it's only through flashbacks that we learn what they did. The structure is unusual in that the flashbacks seem to show a series of misdemeanours rather than serious abuse. We spend more time with the gang - mostly scared out of their wits - than we do with Richard and Anthony, almost making the audience sympathise with them. It's not until the end that we understand the true extent of the abuse, and... well... a lot becomes clear. Richard's opening lines are: "God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven. I can't live with that." In the end, he learns that forgiveness is a two-way path. I was amazed to see this only has a 53% rating at rottentomatoes, with most critics passing it off as a mindless and violent revenge flick. There are violent scenes, but I believe this film has genuine things to say on the matter, with the characters - not the violence - always at the forefront of the plot. I recommend it. |
