| H.G. Wells' tale of a Martian invasion of Earth was first published in 1898 and then made famous by Orson Welles and his Mercury Theater troupe, who performed a version of it live on the radio in 1938. Tom Cruise stars in this Steven Spielberg-directed adaptation of the story. Genre(s) Science Fiction Starring Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning Director(s) Steven Spielberg Writer(s) David Koepp, Josh Friedman Release Date June 29, 2005 Release Wide Release 09/17/04 This flick will square off against The Fantastic Four over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. (ComingSoon.net) 08/19/04 Now there have been reports that this project will be the most expensive movie of all time, a record previously held by Titanic. (Film Force) 08/12/04 A flurry of deal-making has resulted in this flick being put on the fast track. Because Spielberg's Untitled Munich Olympics Project is getting a Tony Kushner rewrite, there was an opportunity for War to leap into the gap. The end result is that Munich has been postponed, as has M:I-3, and War will start production in November. (Variety) 03/17/04 It's official: Tom Cruise will star, and Steven Spielberg will direct. This War will likely be a big-budget blockbuster released in late 2005. (Variety) 05/14/02 Are they kidding? Here's a potentially huge name that rumors have attached to the project: one Seņor Steven Spielberg. (Counting Down) 05/10/02 Thanks to Tom Cruise, this long-delayed project is back on track. Production is set to begin in 2003. (Reuters) 10/09/01 In light of the events in the United States on Sept. 11, this pic has been put on hold indefinitely. (Film Force) 09/14/01 Production on the film has been halted due to the recent terrorist attacks. I'm really looking forward to this one. |

You had to be over 18 to get the pilot in a video store. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094578/ But I haven't seen it on the screens for years, now. [ October 14, 2004, 09:59 AM: Message edited by: Frasier ] | |
