H.G. Wells' tale of a Martian invasion of Earth was first published in 1898 and then made famous by Orson Welles and his Mercury Theater troupe, who performed a version of it live on the radio in 1938. Tom Cruise stars in this Steven Spielberg-directed adaptation of the story.

Its set in modern day which to me seems a bit crap

What are the spaceships going to be like. I liked the ones from the original movie. And the sound they made when they fired their weapon.
