Thanks for those! I'm hoping for the one's that the third "Harry Potter" are nominated for, that they win. I'm hoping they win for the best music because I think that music is really cool. I just bought the first "Harry Potter" soundtrack today and am listening to it right now and so I hope they win for at least something. When are these on?

Sunday, February 27, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland®. The Oscars will be televised live by the ABC Television Network at 5 p.m. PST / 8p.m. EST, beginning with a half-hour arrivals segment.

And yeah, I hope Harry Potter wins for best score too. John Williams lost his chance the last time because of LOTR (which is good, in a way), but it's time for a comeback. Williams rocks! \m/

Yes, I would be so happy if "Harry Potter" won something! It would be cool if "Harry Potter" could win for special affects, too, but "I, Robot" and "Spider-Man 2" are also really good in the special affects. Was "Harry Potter" nominated for the music when LOTR won all those awards or was that a while ago? I don't remember them mentioning the name of the any three movies. Although, I didn't like the movies when I watched them a while ago and so I probably was hoping they didn't win. But I am now! I bought the first "Harry Potter" soundtrack because I just love the songs better on this one then the other two and so I'm hoping it wins. Valtinho, some of those might win, but for the Animated picture, I'm think "Shrek 2" might win because it has won almost everything that it has been nominated for and I don't think a lot of people liked "The Incredibles". It might win, but it would just kind of surprise me if "Shrek 2" didn't win. I can't wait for these to play! Now, isn't this the one where LOTR won all the things they were nominated for? If so, I watched it and I didn't like that it won because I don't like those movies very much, but since those are done with, this time it should be better.

What happens, is that I work for a site here in Brazil and the comments are the same ones about "the incredibles". I also loved "shrek 2" and for the taste of the people, it would be the winner. But what he is being analized here, is the work of the computers. If I was to judge for my professional taste (I´m a sound mixer see in my profile :D ) I would vote in "shrek 2". ;)

I'm just hoping the third "Harry Potter" just wins for either one of the two things it's nominated for. Yes.
But this is the preference of the professionals who work with this type of special effect as I for example. And the Academy doesn´t want to know what the people think. The Academy wants to know the final result of the movie. But I continue thinking that "shrek 2" is better. ;)

I'm not sure if "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" will win for visual affects because "I, Robot" and "Spider-Man 2" are pretty good in that part. It would be so cool if "Harry Potter" would win for music, though! (We might be playing that song in orchestra!) My sister said that "Harry Potter" would probably win for the music, but I'm not sure it will. I hope it will. I can't wait to watch these things to see if it wins for anything. [img]smile.gif[/img]

You have almost the same opinions than me PJYfan!
But I think that I am changing my mind about "sound editing". For my site, "The Aviator" is almost for gaining the Oscar. I think that it goes to be very difficult for the Academy in choosing one of the two! :confused:

A good set of nominations.. the best in quite a while. My two favourite films from last year where completely overlooked but not really in favour of terrible movies so i guess its ok. It's still dissapointing to see no noms for Uma and Eternal Sunshine not getting noms for cinematography and editing (by far the best from last year!).

What exactly is art direction? and whats the difference between sound mixing and sound editing?
