DAWN OF THE DEAD (2004)

The new "re-imagining" of Dawn Of The Dead, which opens today, is getting a lot of very positive reviews. Even Rodger Ebert himself gave the movie thumbs up today! Anyone else here besides me kind of looking forward to seeing it?

It was really good, the zombies rocked.
I recommend that you stay until the end of the credits, trust me, there's more.

all the idiots that walked out of the movie missed out.

Good movie, however if you are looking for a horror flick, this isn't it. It was more comedic and seemed as though they were trying to rush through action scenes.

Film is good, but I'll stick too the old zombie flicks which were freaky. I always associate zombies with slow moving deformed people walking around trying to eat people.

I saw this movie Friday. I have to say that I was pretty impressed with it. Usually remakes are known to totally suck, but this one wasn't bad. I recommend it.

They could have adopted more lines from the orginal (Which had SOOOO many good ones) and it could have been longer. This one is 90 minutes, the original was about 150. But still, it was pretty good.

What I wouldn't give to be trapped in a Mall with Lindy Booth(the hot redhead with the dog)...

Everyone who liked this one should definitely watch the low-budget 1978 orginal by George Romero, which had really bad effects and makeup, but is one of the best Cult Movies ever made. My mother even liked it...

The opening and first half of the movie is really good because, to quote the original, "It doesn't take long for the world to fall apart" and it shows how people start turning on each other immediately.

SPOILERS******

This movie had its typical B-movie characters that often act in really stupid ways, like the girl going after her dog, for one instance.

The original movie was a very hardhitting satire of Consumerist society, and I was pleased that in this movie, the rich, cowardly, latte-drinking sarcastic yuppie was the most vilified of the group.

Andy was cool.

Anyways, in conclusion, I was impressed, because there aren't many movies out there today that have the good guys going around killing babies....

On the Subject of Running Zombies:
This movie portrays Zombies as very fast and . This may seem better than the slow, shuffling traditional Zombie. But the slow zombies had a very, very important advantage. Everyone just underestimated them way too much BECAUSE they moved to slowly. This underestimation often led to them being able to swarm someone before they really noticed what was going on and then getting ripped to shreds. When slow moving Zombies are actually able to take over the planet in the original, it just shows how people couldn't even get their sh*t together to take out a relatively non-threatening danger.

I liked the waythe prohphecy about the baby being born with no soul, brings about the end of the world. Its in the bible people!!

I was gonna see this movie next week but then i realised that passion of christ is coming out on the same day so DotD will have to wait [img]tongue.gif[/img] .

sarah polley movies are usually always good.

You see, that's what everyone would think, but it's not that simple. If there are enough of them, they can swarm you pretty fast. If even one gets his hands on you, it will slow you up enough for more.

A really good zombie movie. IF you didnt watch the credits after the movie you missed alot. I wonder if they will make Day of the Dead now.

One reason the orginal was made was to show symbolism that everyone that goes to the mall are "zombies".

I liked how they had the a$$hole you hated and then the a$$hole you loved.

I also loved the opening song to the movie it was Johnny Cash's "When the man comes around" which is a great song. One of J.C.'s last recorded original songs.

Since I didn't stay for the credits could someone tell me what they showed?

There was really no plot and kinda stupid but over all it was still entertaining. The flashes during the credits just showed that pretty much everybody's going to die anyways since no matter where they go there will be zombies.

I have to see this movie i like remakes.you have to admit that remakes the storys are interesting for example this movie and the remake of Dracula staring Gary Oldman and Winona Ryder movies like these are Cool and nice,baby with no soul nice story and it's bible related.

I totally agree. I just saw the movie tonight, and I must say, I was a little disappointed. This movie, to me, was more comedic and action-type then it was horror. Sure, some of the scenes are pretty funny and they work, but I was hoping for more of a horror movie then an action-comedy with horror in it. It is a decent movie, but I really don't see how like Entertainment Weekly can give it an A... :rolleyes:

They Gave it an "A" cause it was an awesome film. One of the better remakes I have seen in a long while...it was so funny and full of action and who ever said this film was supposed to be a horror film???? I mean come on what Zombie movie and if anyone says "Well Resident Evil was scary" then all I gotta say is this :rolleyes:

what if heaven sent a air force of Angels looking like Van Helsing to stop the evil,if it is in fact related to the bible.it will be cool cuz villans from hell vs devil killers from heaven.I know GOD would say i have to represent for all of Me and Heaven and my children from earth!it's Judgement Day!

They stumble across a video camera that the a$$hole had on the boat and then mess around with it. First, they have a party. But then the food, water and engine power all run out. They arrive to this island with high hopes, then they realize the island is infected with zombie, too... the end.
