Universal Green Lights The Fast and the Furious 3

Universal Pictures has given a green light to the third installment of "The Fast and the Furious" series for the studio's 2005 summer slate. Vin Diesel is in talks to return to the franchise after skipping sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious, while the studio is not currently planning to have Paul Walker, a star of both previous incarnations, return for the third outing.

Screenwriter Chris Morgan (Celllular) has been hired to pen a script. His concept picks up Diesel's character, Dominic Torretto, where he was left off at the end of the first film, a fugitive of the law hiding out in Mexico. The action quickly moves to Tokyo, the current Mecca of street racing, where Torretto tries to bail out a friend in trouble with gangsters.

The studio is developing "Fast 3" as a Diesel vehicle but said there is no deal in place yet with the actor. Diesel's representative said he hopes to return for "Fast 3" but is waiting to see a script before committing.

Why?! Talk about milking...

My sister will be happy when I tell her about this because she loves those movies and she also likes Vin Diesel. I don't care for the movies though.

Maybe Vin will die in this one and hand the series over to Burt Reynolds.

I'm hoping for McGyver. He'll always know what to do to win.

They're entertaining thats all..yes they're not realistic but at least they are fun to watch and not snoozers like a lot of the "good films"......

The first movie is one of my favorites! Since Christmas, I've been wanting "2 Fast, 2 Furious" in widescreen format but I cannot find it anywhere! I origianlly got it from my mom (at Christmas) in fullscreen, and we took it back to Wal-Mart to get it in widescreen. It's March and they still don't have it (nor does anywhere else). They just restocked from Christmas two weeks ago. So, I suppose this is good news, but I would like to have Paul Walker in it again because he's my favorite actor.

Let me get this straight. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker together make F&TF a hit.

Vin becomes too big of a star for the second one while Paul remains loyal to the franchise and takes the 2nd one to the top of the box office while Diesel does A Man Apart and Knockaround Guys, two movies that didnt make eight bucks between them.

Fast and The Furious 3 does not need Vin and it certianly shouldn't kick Paul out.

Fast and The Furious 3 with Paul Walker, Tyrese, Ludacris, and Eva Mendes. Directed by John Singleton (not Rob Cohen, who is doing the same switcheroo from 1 to 2 to 3 that Diesel is doing)
