Anyone want to try and explain the plot to me?

I just saw it on DVD and I really enjoyed it, but either the movie had alot of holes or I missed alot of fine details....I'm def going to have to watch it again.

Like.....could the werewolfs all change at will?

Seemed like the werewolfs should have beaten the vamps back in the day before guns...cause w/o the guns the vamps weren't very good fighers....it was until victor just manhandled the one WW that it seemed somewhat realistic they won.

The whole mixing thing and bloodline went over my head as well.

At the beginning, Kate Beckinsale says that only the older, more powerful Lycans can change at will. The rest have to wait for the Full Moon (or also the dayor two that precede and follow it). The events of the movie take place around the full moon and that's why they all changed.

Remember, in the days before guns, they all still had arrows and swords and whatnot as well.

The Lycans are way more powerful when they are in wolf form, but most can only do that when there is a full moon. The Vampires seem to be better than unchanged Lycans, but they are impaired because they can only move around at night.

The Plot line was this: (SPOILERS)
Back in Roman times, there was a guy named Corvinus who was mutated by an unknown plague. He became immortal and fathered two sons, one of which became the ancestor to all vampirs and the other the ancestor to all Lycans. After a few hundred years, the Lycans and Vampires lived together. The Lycans were essentially slaves to the Vampires, and watched over them during the day.

One day Lucian the Lycan fell in love with Viktor's daughter and he was rather upset about that. Viktor killed his own daughter and tried to kill Lucian to prevent them from getting together. This started a race war between the Vampires and Lycans.

A few hundred years later, the Lycans were essentially defeated and driven underground. Lucian was supposedly killed by Kraven, but it was a lie and Kraven and Lucian were in cahoots. Kraven wanted Lucian's help in order to stage a coup of the Vampires and gain control of them. Lucian has been in hiding trying to rebuild the shattered Lycan dynasty and defeat the ruling Vampires. The Vampires have been hunting down the remaining Lycans in the world for the last few hundred years.

Selene was a French Peasant and she thought he family was killed by Lycans and that she was saved by Viktor, who fought them off. In reality, Viktor killed her family, but when he came to her, he couldn't bear to kill her because she reminded him of his lost daughter, so he turned her into a Vampire and lied to her about her family. She's fought the Lycans for centuries because of this.

Anyway, Lucian and the Lycans have been trying to track down the last descendent of Corvinus, who turns out to be Michael Corvin, in order to inject him with both Vampire and Lycan blood in order to turn him into a Half-Vampire, Half-Lycan super killing machine in order to fight the Vampires. It has to be a descendent of Corvinus to do this, because anyone else bitten by both Vampire and Lycan will just die.

That's when the movie starts.

Hmmm...I guess I've seen so many different vampire/WW movies it's hard to track things.

Just seemed that w/o guns that a single WW could have easily taken out an infinate number of vamps.

Was Viktors strength due to his blood line? I also don't understand why the "ancients" rested, I mean, a vampire is immortal.

Plus the whole silver thing, I thought silver killed both vamps and WW, but they never used silver on the vamps. Would be alot easier to make a silver bullet then a UV bullet.

I dunno, maybe I'm looking to hard into some things.

Viktor explained that vamps are here since the leapfrog of time..how's that? before God?
