| From the IMDB: Irish actor Liam Neeson will join the cast of the new Batman movie - as the caped crusader's nemesis. The Love Actually star has signed a deal to play villain Ra's Al Ghul, an international terrorist bent on destroying Gotham City, in Batman: Intimidation. Another addition to the cast - which already boasts the talents of Christian Bale, Katie Holmes and Sir Michael Caine - is Shawshank Redemption veteran Morgan Freeman. He will play Lucius Fox, "a respected businessman and the Chief Executive Officer of billionaire Bruce Wayne's Wayne Enterprises based in Gotham City." The movie is being directed by Memento film-maker Christopher Nolan. I've heard some good things about the script, too. As long as Batman's costume is sans nipples, I'll be happy. |

| From what I've read, Murphy is playing Jonathan Crane, who develops the fear toxin and later becomes Scarecrow. So maybe that'll be a nice set-up for a sequel villain. Also, I read who will be playing Sgt. Jim Gordon -- Gary Oldman. I would have preferred Chris Cooper or Kurt Russell, but Oldman's awesome. This is shaping up to be one of the best casts a movie's ever had. Seriously. The cast so far: Christian Bale - Batman/Bruce Wayne Michael Caine - Alfred Ken Watanabe - Ra's Al Ghul Cillian Murphy - Dr. Jonathan Crane Liam Neeson - Henri Ducard Morgan Freeman - Lucius Fox Katie Holmes - Rachel Gary Oldman - Sgt. | Yes it is. I find that to be a little......suspicious. I love the idea of such a cast doing a Batman movie, because if it was shyte, why would Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman even bother with it? What are the chances of Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, AND Michael Caine picking the same crap movie to be in simultaneously? And yet, its hard to believe that any movie could have such a cast and not be a "Cold Mountain"/Oscar nominated type movie. Well, either one of those movies, or Oceans 11. | Colin Farrel was supposed to be play Batman for the supposely greenlighted "Batman VS. Superman" movie, which was to also have Josh Hartnett playign Superman. They must have made this offical during latenight drinking fest I'll bet. Can you imagine how stupid that is? That's almost as bad as the rumor Kevin Smith mentioned years ago about Tim Burton casting Sean Penn for the big new Superman movie. And I'm getting a little sick of Colin Farrel, they keep calling him "Hollywood's Bad Boy." We all just  LOVE the term "bad Boy" don't we? J**** C***** I hate Hollywood. So Chistian Bale will be Batman for this new one? |

The Batman and Superman projects have been like a revolving door. Kevin Smith had worked on the Burton screenplay in the past but was dumped. He jokes about it in his An Evening with Kevin Smith DVD. Take what Kevin Smith says with a grain of salt. Although Sean Penn could/can do anything. He's getting a bit too old for Uberman though. Even our Smallville star was approached for the Superman role but didn't have the time with his series contract. He would have been absolutely perfect for the role as well.
