I'm starting to think that Chasing Amy was a one off. The only really great and flawless script that Kevin Smith has ever written.

Anyway he sucks now and I don't see him improving until he ends his working relationship with Ben Assface (if this movie flops as hard as Gigli then we might see that happen! [img]smile.gif[/img] )

Like you could create or direct a film a good as he, JHFan...give the film a chance before condeming it, but then again you did like X2 :rolleyes:

His movies are terriable. Clerks is OK, not great but not bad. The rest of them are God awful. Mallrats has to be one of the worst movies ever. Jason Lee was a mediocre skater and an even worse actor he's the same in every movie. Bad. And the other guy in Mallrats who was going to marry his girlfriend is even more ****.

By saying you like Kevin Smith movies you might as well say you have no friends, masturbate furiously and have a reatarded sense of humour.

Yeah I didn't put much thought into the above post.

I was under the impression that he had written the screenplay for Good Will Hunting. I just checked IMDB, and it turned out he only produced it.

Dogma was acceptable entertainment.

The only bad Kevin Smith was Dogma...that was utter filth but Chasing Amy, Clerks, Mallrats and Jay and Silent Bob Strike back were brilliant...this one looks interesting and yes Ben Affleck can act....I guess you guys have not seen "Changing Lanes" or "Chasing Amy"

Anyway Chasing Amy is sooo well written and it definitely takes a gifted writer to write such a thing BUT like I said before it was a one off and he sucks now.

Clerks is a classic, it takes a true talent to write a film that is that funny and makes a point by the end

Mallrats was not as good, but it still managed to have several big laughs.
by the way, Jason Lee CANT act? Mumford, Chasing Amy, Dreamcatcher, Almost Famous

Chasing Amy is his best movie so far. It combined Smith's gift for comedic writing with his first stab at true drama.

Dogma is the only film in recent memory that managed to be that funny and cause that many ideas and it all seemed seamless.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is funny with several big belly laughs.

Jersey Girl - I am somewhat tired of people saying that just becuase a person (film, TV, books, music- whatever) goes mainstream - he's all the sudden a talentless hack. Jersey Girl's box office may suffer from the Affleck backlash, but I am looking forward to the movie because i think it will be as good, if not better, than Chasing Amy.

Finally, ENOUGH AFFLECK BASHING!! Why does everyone hate him. Good Will Hunting. Changing Lanes. Glory Daze. Daredevil. Bounce. Boiler Room. Shakespeare in Love. All of these, and his Kevin Smith film, are good to great. Stop confusing his tabloid image with his abilities to pick great projects.
