"We have really great people though as the villains in this film, Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace -- Venom and Sandman," said Dunst, who plays Mary Jane Watson in the Spidey films. "Maybe I wasn't supposed to say that," she added before reversing her claim. "It's the other way around. You're right," she conceded to a journalist. Dunst has yet to receive a script for the third film that will begin shooting in January. "But I know the general story. There's a lot that they're trying to fit into this one." |

| I could buy Thomas Haden Church as Sandman, although Sandman is really more of a henchman-type villain, because he's really not very smart. But...Topher Grace? What?! WHAT?! I'd buy him as Cletus Kasady, but not as Venom (or Sandman, for that matter). Can't they get a guy who's already big and intimidating to play Venom? Actually, he'd only have to play Eddie Brock, then someone who's a good voice actor could play Venom, since Venom's face will be nothing but CGI. |

| Well, Topher has been working out a lot for this movie, so maybe he might fit the role physically. I really haven't seen what he looks like lately. But he still has time to buff up more since they're not into produciton yet. Quote:
If they have Venom, though, I don't really see why Sandman would need to be there, though I'll trust Raimi with whatever way he worked out the story. And I've never really agreed with Sandman in the first place. He doesn't have any sort of connection to Peter like Green Goblin and Doc Ock did.

| I'd always invisioned Timothy Olymphant (Go; Girl Next Door; Scream 2) playing Venom. But that other guy? Think Venom will be CG, and move just like the mutants in the church in Resident Evil: Apocolypse? I agree with Trine X, taking the path Batman took might not be a good sign. Two villans could mean too many subplots. Much like them squeezing Bane in Batman & Robin, and making him retarded. Maybe Sandman could be a bit of a pushover once Spiderman unleashs water on him. But I've never read the comics of Sandman, so am I underestimating him? [ September 28, 2005, 12:59 AM: Message edited by: rebelman20 ] |

| well if they do it like batman and give him more of a cameo... that would be ok. I think it would take 2 movies to build up venom like teh comics. like this would get him the suit and at the end he loses it and venom starts.. that would be alright |

Besides they are still saying Dylan Baker who played Dr. Curt Connors in "Spidey 2" will be in "Spidey 3" & James Franco who played Harry Osborn in "Spidey" & "Spidey 2" will be in "Spidey 3" too. So we have 3 Main Villians & 1(Maybe) Lacky: Main Villians Venom Hobgoblin The Lizard Lacky Sandman

If Harry does become a villain, I don't think he'd be Hobgoblin. Harry was never Hobgoblin in the comics, and Raimi seems to like to follow them pretty well. Maybe not exactly, but he gets the important things right.

I'm going to say two and a half bad guys," the "Elizabethtown" star said. "Because I think one of them is resurrected. But yeah, two and a half bad guys, I think, about in this movie." She is referring to Thomas Haden Church playing Sandman and Topher Grace playing Venom in the film, with the identity of the "half" villain unknown at this time, but it could possibly be Harry Osborn turning into Green Goblin II or Hobgoblin. | Or Harry is just holding a really big grudge, which could account for the half bad guy. Like, he's not really a bad guy-bad guy, but now he's against Spidey AND Peter and is trying to get back at him for killing his father. I find it hard to think Raimi would have three villains in one movie, and have two of them be major villains. It would ruin the movie for sure. Sandman as the lackey type of villain makes sense, Venom could definitely hold his own story. Bringing in another Goblin would need a whole other major plot. SO that's why I think Harry won't don the suit in the next movie. He probably has to deal with the fact that Peter is Spidey and his father was Green Goblin, and his part of the story will revolve around that and the increased tension between him and Peter. LATE EDIT: I just remembered Dunst was the one who said The Lizard was going to be the Spidey 2 villain, and look how wrong she was. [ October 01, 2005, 06:34 AM: Message edited by: SilverSpoon ] |

http://spiderman.sonypictures.com/movie/vgallery/ 2 Villians on the List(According to Kirsten Dunst 1 of these 2 Villians might be brought back to Life in "Spidey 3") is Green Goblin & Doc Oc. Looks like they are trying to cover their butts in Case what Dunst said is true in order to throw everyone off.
