"National Treasure 2" Moving Forward

Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films have begun developing National Treasure 2, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The studio has hired Gregory Poirier to write the movie, which will be directed by returning helmer Jon Turteltaub. Details of the story are being kept under wraps.

The first film, starring Nicolas Cage, Sean Bean, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha and Jon Voight, earned $347.5 million worldwide. It is unclear whether any of the cast will return for the sequel.

Poirier wrote Disney's Swiss Family Robinson, which attracted Jonathan Mostow to sign on as director.

The first on was actaully pretty good, it suprised me, caught me off guard, but I did like it. I don;t know how pumped up I can be for a sequel though. What are they going to do? Find something else? Maybe this time they will completely rip off The Da Vinci Code?

I'm surprised that they are making a second one. I don't know how they can contuine (sp?) the story. Unless they do something like farsighted suggested (find something else). Seems kind of dumb that they would do a second one. But if it has Nicholas Cage in it, it'll be good. I hope he is in it again.

it will be about some other treasure of course. This film is awesome, I must say I am disappointed for not seeing that movie in the theaters. Definitely recommend renting

I saw it in the theaters with my Aunt, Uncle, cousins and my family. I don't remember if we saw it opening day, but I do remember that we saw it on Thanksgiving day. It is a really good movie. Everytime I watch it, I forget that it is a Disney movie because it is just a really good action/adventure movie and Disney sometimes doesn't make good action/adventure movies. Ya'know what I mean? Right now, my wallpaper and screensavers are "National Treasure".

I loved the first one.. a sequel.. I'm not liking the sound of that.. It seems Hollywood wants to bleed the well dry. What other free mason stuff can he possibly think off?? there are stories they can use, but how much more of Free Mason teaching at they going to divulge??

I just saw #1 for the first time today. I enjoyed it alot too! But I also have to agree that it doesn't seem like there is more story to go on with, especially since there was no mention of "other" treasures in the first film. I hope that girl who played Abigail is in 2 though [img]redface.gif[/img] Damn she was gorgeous [img]tongue.gif[/img] Nick can come too

Yeah, I'm just trying to figure out what they can do for a second one because usually when they are doing a second one, they will somehow let you know at the end of the first one. See, I thought it was weird that they were making a "Pirates of the Caribbean 2" also because the first one just ended and there is really no story line left and I don't know how they are contuining this story and it's probably the same with "National Treasure 2". Disney will probably make up something for them to find or something like that. Is this true that they are doing a sequal?

All I can remember about this from reading it somewhere is that it has something to do with Davey Jone's Locker.

I agree about Pirates of the Carribean. I think they really didn't have much to go on, but I did hear a rumor that it would be about the Keira and Orlando's continued journey as pirates, given the ending of the first movie.

What is Davey Jone's Locker? Farsighted, "Prites of the Carribean 2" does start from where it left off, but I don't know any more about the story line. I didn't like the first one (although, I like the ride at Disneyland!) and so I don't think I'll go see it in theater when it comes out next year or when it comes out on DVD.
