| Ya Rly! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Like most 24 fans, I've been craving a 24 fix like Courtney Love craves crack. Now, at last, the weekend's almost here, and beginning Sunday and Monday night, FOX will air the 4 hour premiere of Day 6 of The Jack Bauer Power Hour, beginning the non-stop season with no reruns, hiatuses, or pre-emptions. I've stayed clear of spoilers for the most part, and I've even restrained myself from trying to find the leaked episodes online. The reviews have been pretty much unanimous that this is the best season yet, and the show has a remarkable ability to top itself with, literally, each passing day. I'm glad to hear that, since many shows that finally win the Emmy tend to act like anything they do from then on out is automatically good, and they don't seem to put the same effort into their shows, anymore. The only question now is...how many wives will Jack shoot this time? |

| Ya Rly! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | JACK IS BACK!! Day 6: 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM Thoughts? Awesome way to start the new day. You really get the sense that some seriously bad stuff is going down, and the United States government is so desperate for solutions that they'd sacrifice one of their greatest and most dedicated heroes. That hero, Jack Bauer, after 20 months of torture from the Chinese government, is now a broken shell of a man who can't bring himself to go to the extreme measures he used to, even welcoming the release of death, because in his own words, he wants to die for something. I won't get too spoilerish yet, but the first episode has one GREAT kill that will remind Kiefer Sutherland fans of The Lost Boys, and the second episode has a good torture scene involving a steak knife and a kneecap. I also like how a perceived enemy may be America's only ally in stopping the terrorists this time. I hope they go more into the ethics of what both sides do as Jack's latest Very Bad Day progresses. |

After six seasons, it's amazing that this show can still keep me on the edge of my seat. We need to keep a kill count of how many people Jack kills this season. Two hours into the day and Jack already has one. Not too bad. |

Playing the angle of the chinese torturing Bauer so much physically and emotionally draining him so that he doesn't feel adept at performing his "duty". There have already been signs of this during that interrogation scene(the look Assan gives him after torturing the mole). Jack going vampiro was probably the greatest scene since Jack killed Nina in Season 3. ![]() The Bad: The new characters just don't look like they are going to cut it.(Palmer's sister, the chief of staff, Nadia). Assan and Morris are dope. Last edited by Captain Beefheart; 01-15-2007 at 06:41 PM.. |

| Ya Rly! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You leave Nadia alone. She's hot. Day 6: 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM Whoa. Seriously, whoa. I know they've done the "nuclear bomb goes off on U.S. soil" thing before, but never in a populated area. They freaking nuked freaking LOS ANGELES. Plus, there are four more "visitors" to worry about! The one thing I didn't care for was the whole "Curtis hates Assad" subplot. The show has a bad habit of undermining character development for the sake of a "shocking twist." Curtis was never the type of guy who would let his feelings cloud his judgement, especially when there are so many lives at stack. I just felt that it was a cheap way to let a character like him go. however, the fact that he was killed by JACK was a jaw-dropper. I also liked Jack's reaction afterward. He may have lost his psychological edge, though it looks like it may come back after seeing that mushroom cloud. What I LOVE so far is how dire they're making the situation. In earlier seasons, they're racing to prevent the horrible thing from happening, but now, it's already happening, and all they can do is try and stop it. I also like how they're keeping the memory of David Palmer alive. The family being held hostage by Kumar was pretty good. I'm glad they didn't drag it out too long. Now, the wife and son will either play into future episodes, or they'll drop by the wayside. Preferably the latter. I also think Wayne Palmer is an exceptionally weak president, and I don't think he'll remain in office after Day 6. He gives in way too easily. Graham comes back next week! I mean, it's sad, but it's great writing. Curtis was about "as by the book" an agent that CTU had. And we see him lose a little bit of himself there at the final moment, and he finally "breaks protocol". And that was a means to his end. So is Assad going to replace Curtis in being Jack's field buddy? I swear, if Assad turns out to be bad, i'm am going to be pissed, but then i'll get over it cause this show is amazing. Jack is already a great character, but they are adding an interesting layer to him which makes him more badass. His work is finally getting to him, and it's humanizing him more for audiences. He's not that guy who can just stoically kill off an obstacle for a greater cause anymore. The things happening around him are now affecting him more. It's a dent in the armor of Jack. I don't think we've seen Jack this vulnerable since Season 3. |

| Ya Rly! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I still don't agree with how they did Curtis. It just strikes me as another "Tony Death" when it should have been a "Ryan Chapelle Death" like he deserved. I agree with you about Jack. One thing this show has always done right is show how his job is destroying Jack's spirit. Every season he's more dead inside, but he's always been able to put aside any remorse or pain he's feeling until the crisis is over. Now he can't, and it'll be interesting to see how it interferes with his job now. Of course, a nuclear weapon detonating in a populated city is Jack's worst nightmare, so the terrorists may have just unleashed the worst weapon of mass destruction ever in Jack Bauer. We'll see. I love this show. So. Much. |

America's policy has been not to negotiate with terrorist no matter what, and most of those agents are trained to keep silence, but do you really think that hypothetically under David Palmer's presidency and judging of what we know from their "relationship", they wouldn't have given in into a list of demands? Now Jack's conodrum pretty much falls to the realisation that he was expendable, basically it came down to using him as a "bargaining chip" to get Assad. So if you're in Jack shoes, you've sacrificed yourself all these years, for what payoff, losing your wife? The post memorian theme for Chapelle was very well played off(one of my favorite 24 moments) because if you remember, both characters didn't see eye to eye, but the biding love for their "cause" prevailed at the end. There wasn't a strong a bond with Curtis I felt. What makes this show so great is that, except for Jack, nobody is off limits(watch the documental piece on Season 5, curiously Curtis character talks about that). What a great season. How did Palmer's brother get to be president? I need that question answered. Up until now it was all Moslem bad guys but I see the one armed guy from ER is back next week. I forgot they did not take him out last season. |

I want to see the Bluetooth Mafia come in to play somewhere myself. ![]() Last edited by Captain Beefheart; 01-17-2007 at 06:31 PM.. |

| Member ![]() ![]() | HOLY HELL!!! Graham from the Bluetooth mafia is Jack's brother! What a great and unsuspecting twist. Did you see the look on Jack's face when Graham introduced him to Josh. Is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling that Josh might be Jack's son? He does look an awful lot like Kim. Just wait, that's going to be the twist for hour 10. |

| Ya Rly! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | While my jaw completely dropped when they revealed Graham was Brother Bauer, I also think it was the most completely useless twist in the history of the show. I mean, are we to believe that Jack Bauer, a man who obsessively pursues terrorists all over the world, comes from a super-wealthy family who are terrorists themselves? I always pictured Jack's family as a working-class type with alcohol problems. Oh, and I guess Jack is done with all that "I don't know how to do this anymore" crap. Not when you torture the ever-loving sh*t out of your own brother with ZERO hesitation. |
