I've been on numerous train rides through the years. I used to travel by train daily. It's a common way of transportation here, because of the mountains and valleys and fjords and whatnot. Anyway, the trains over here are way more comfortable than the bus. It's faster and it's not nearly as bumpy (not the new trains anyway) as a bus ride. The seats are great. I would say more comfortable than those on the bus because the train is more spacious. You can actually fit your legs! There's usually more to look at through the windows as well, because the railroads go through more...deserted areas. We have a couple of types of trains. There is one kind that travels shorter distances, and those have a tiny bathroom and seats pretty much. Then there are those who travel longer distances (like Oslo-Bergen, about 6 hours), they usually have a cafeteria, more bathrooms, beds and even a 'play room' for the kids. And they're usually more comfortable than the others. If the trains over there are of the same quality as the ones over here, your first ride will be a great experience.
