MSFixR says: 1831 - Clement Studebaker , American automobile pioneer born. (d. 1901) (An American carriage manufacturer. With his brothers, he founded H & C Studebaker Company, which built Pennsylvania-German conestoga wagons and carriages during his lifetime, and automobiles after his death, in South Bend, Indiana.)
1881 – Andrew Watson made his debut with the Scotland national football team and became the world's first black international football player.
1894 - Coca-Cola is sold in bottles for the first time. 1912 - The Girl Guides (later renamed the Girl Scouts of the USA) are founded in the U.S.. 1913 - Canberra Day: The future capital of Australia was officially named Canberra. (Melbourne remained temporary capital until 1927 while the new capital was still under construction.) 1930 – Gandhi began the Dandi March, a 24-day walk to defy the British tax on salt in colonial India. 1931 - Billie "Buckwheat" Thomas , American actor born.
