Need Help Identifying Music Video/Artist

here's what i remember:

a guy driving cross country carrying a backpack with him, staying in random motels, eating at random little dinners, flashes of a beach somewhere with a single tree in the foreground with a woman dancing & running on the beach, his car dies & he finishes the cross country trip by hitchhiking the rest of the way to the beach seen in the flashes

anyone know who it is or atleast the song?

I wish I could help you RebelMan. It just doesn't ring a bell. Is it a recent song, something from the eighties? Is it country or pop or rock? Do you know anything about the artist? The only one that comes to mind for me is Depeche Mode, and he was wearing a cowboy hat and hitchhiking, but I don't remember what song it was.

sometime around 2006 to 2008 is the time frame i remember seeing the video.

I'm so sorry RebelMan. I wish so badly that I could help you. I'm a child of the seventies and eighties and I pretty much fell out of touch with modern music because so much of it is awful. I don't watch American Idol and I stopped watching MTV after about 2000. I hope that you can figure out who it is!
