I heard this pianist play Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 last night. She just blew the socks off everyone in attendance returning to the stage for four bows. It appeared that even the orchestra was wowed and that is not an easy feat in St. Louis. If you get a chance to hear her live, do so, you won't be disappointed. BTW Wikipedia says she is 59!http://www.mitsukouchida.com/

This is the fifth piano concerto, first movement (couldn't find the fourth).

Oh that's so cool you got to see her. The second movement of the beethoven fourth concerto is my absolute favourite! I can't watch the vid because I'm on my laptop with dreadful speakers. I haven't heard her beethoven concertos. But it's so weird I was just thinking about her an hour ago because her mozart is amazingly good and you'd posted this. She's one of the treasures of london, she's always so intelligent! I saw her doing the beethoven late sonatas and I'll just say you have to get the cd.

I must have seen her maybe two years ago at the wigmore. I hope you have a good hi-fi. The disc is a beautiful studio recording. Late beethoven sonatas are seriously weird, but also absolutely amazing. You need to devote a few evenings to them. I'm sure you know all this already!
