| Member of Sylar's Army ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | any one else going to get this cd? i've taken a listen to it already and man do they go a different direction from their previous albums. there are a few songs that remain somewhat close to what we've heard in their old songs but this new album seems to be a much more mellow album. the first half of the cd is very much the same old same old but the 2nd half goes soft. unlike their last albums this one contains explicite lyrics, a couple of f words here and there. there are a few songs that do stand out though. here's a list of the songs in the cd. i'm not going to get into the details about what the songs are about but if you've listen to their last albums then you know what they're mostly about. if you've heard the Qwerty song that was avialable on their LP underground cd then you can kinda get a feel of it with that song, somewhat. 1. wake - this is more of an intro that lasts for about 1 minute and 43 seconds long. starts off slow and then builds up with drums and then bang the rest of the band kicks in. 2. Given up - a rock track with some clapping in the background. not really one of my favorites. some cursing. sounds like some of their much older stuff back before they became poplular. 3. leave out all the rest - a slow song with a nice little chorus. i actually like this one. 4. bleed it out - another one i just loved. this one will stand out from all the tracks on the cd. this is mike shinoda's song. he raps throughout the whole thing with chester singing the main chorus. much like faint stood out on the last cd this one is the fast song of this album. 5. shadow of the day - another slow song that takes some time to build up but once it does its actually good. the main chorus' in this cd are pretty good. 6. what i've done - you've probably already heard this one. i like this song but it did take me awhile to get used it. many say it sounds like everything else but as a long time LP fan i can tell it's not. there is a difference from their past songs and it is a nice song. 7. hands held high - mike raps in this song, he doesn't rap a lot in this album and yes he curses in it. its a very spiritual sounding song with the word "amen" being thrown in the background. the song is about the times we're living in. but in the long run it's a nice decent song. nothing like anything i've heard them do before. 8. no more sorrow - for some reason the intro of this song feels like making me march. but its another rocking song. i know this is going to sound weird but i can swear they borrowed the way the lyrics go the song from depeche mode's "strange love". if you get to listen to this song somewhere or when or if you buy the cd just listen to depeche mode's song and this one's almost sound the same at times. not one of my favorite tracks. 9. valentine's day - another slow song with a slightly heavy ending. also not one of my faves. 10. in between - once more another slow mellow song. its got a nice little hook but the music never seems to build up. i kept thinking it would get a little more faster towards the end. it's ok but not a fave of mine. 11. in pieces - this is one that starts off a little slow but then starts to pick up. it's ok but not one of chesters best efforts. i don't why i just couldn't get into it. 12. the little things give you away - i don't know couldn't get into this song either. yes a slow song again. at this point i'm hoping they release some kind of remix album where the songs are changed up a bit. kinda like reanimation. so i just couldn't get into this cd and i'm a huge lp fan. but unlike their last albums where i just loved every song this one only had just a few that i actually liked. i guess everyone will have a different opinion on the it. but here are three of the 12 songs so you can sample and get a feel of what the album is like. if you like what you hear then go and buy the cd. i am even if i wansn't to into it but it's because i am a fan. (Edit: We cant post MP3's here, Sorry.) |

| Bunny Gooz ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Linkin Park have gained a lot of respect from me lately. Not only are their old songs really great, from what I've heard in radio and on TV, but they rock that new album of theirs! I was so amazed by how much they actually made me like them. I was at their show last week, the European tour, and wow! I was forced to buy tickets because I was gonna see their supporting act, Thirty Seconds to Mars(who, btw, rocked LP's socks off). The other supporting band sucked, though. The show was incredibly well organized. I mean, they must have a huge production budget to pull that sh*t off. They had huge platforms where the drummer and the mixing dude were on. On the back of the stage was an enormous display, where they could show video. In the beginning, while 30STM performed too, it was a starry sky. During LP's performance it turned to this giant light-show/theater, showing all kinds of things. I can't really say much about the music, because I don't know the songs by title, but I was surprised by how awesome it all sounded. There was not a single person not screaming, jumping, dancing, bobbing their heads, in that venue. The music had everyone going. You know how when you aren't a fan and don't know any lyrics or songs, it sort of kills the whole thing. Well, LP knows how to prevent that. Their sound is so great and energy is amazing. One thing, though; One would think after being a musician for so long they would have learned how to speak into the microphone properly and make themselves understandable...well they basically suck at trying to make that happen. It's really a shame because they probably had some interesting things to say. It makes show so much better when you can communicate and make a connection with everyone there, IMO. So anyway, my point is; I might buy this album. And I strongly recommed anyone who are able to go to buy tickets for their tour ![]() |

| Newbie | Hey good pick up. I was wondering if others have noticed this. A search for Linkin Park and Depeche Mode (DM) pulls up a story about Mike Shinoda being a big fan of DM. In fact, they put out an album remaking many DM favorites. I only listened to No More Sorrow on a subscription site. To anyone who has access to liner notes, is there an acknowledgment or reference to DM's Strange Love? In some of the later tracks, DM's influences are actually pretty clear. Happy listening... |

| Member of Sylar's Army ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | well after having this cd and the leak before it i will say that i can only listen to the first half of the cd. i love the first songs but i still can't get into the any of the songs that come after "hands held high". their concerts are great and i've only managed to go to one in houston. **also but is there a reason why everything is coming out underlined in the last few posts including mine.** |
