We know that most of you don't actually plan to get back together. More often than not, the term "hiatus" is used in place of "we're stopping now so that someone will give us a lot of money for a reunion tour after our singer's solo album tanks." The latest band to not break up is System Of A Down. There's been a plethora of gossip saying that the group's upcoming spot on the Ozzfest tour will be full of farewell performances, but guitarist Daron Malakian has denied that a permanent split is in the works. "We're not breaking up," insisted Malakian in an interview with MTV News. "We're going to take a very long break after Ozzfest and do our own things. "We've done System for over 10 years, and I think it's healthy for us to get away from it for a while and come back to it later on. So, this is probably going to be... well, it's not a farewell tour, but it's going to be a little while before we go out again." That's why, once Ozzfest is over in mid-August, the band will join Moist, Blink-182 and… Moxy Fruvous in the Hiatus Club. While Malakian couldn't say how long the band members planned to be on their own, there are plenty of projects to keep them satisfied. Malakian will start working with his other band, Scars On Broadway, while vocalist Serj Tankian will continue to run his Serjical Strike label. "Our lives have been planned around System," said Malakian. "We want to go live our lives a bit. "Some people would call it a break-up, but we don't really call it that. You know, even U2 took a little time off, and then they came back with a new sound." —Allegra Shepherd |

| Hehe, it's true. When they have to announce that they're taking a break, then that means they're breaking up. If they weren't, then there's no need to say anything. If they wanted to take a break, all they need to do is relax from touring and writing for a while. Many bands have taken a few years before their next album came out or before they toured again. |
