Death metaller hit by train... and lives

Last weekend, Canadian metal fan Jesse Maggrah was hit by a freight train, and survived.

The 20-year-old had been walking by the tracks listening to Norwegian black metallers Gorgoroth on his walkman, and didn't hear the train's horn until it was too late.

Jesse survived with only a couple of broken bones. He remembers walking, and then finding himself on the ground. "I thought, 'Holy crap, dude, you just got hit by a train.'"

Could Satan have intervened?

"Maybe the metal gods were smiling on me,” says Jesse. “They didn't want one of their true warriors to die on them."

Satan would certainly approve of Gorgoroth. The band, formed in 1992 by Satanist rockers Infemous, Hat and Goat were charged last year in Poland with religious defilement. Their gig in Kracow had used 100 litres of blood, seven impaled sheep heads, sheep entrails around the musicians and hooded naked women on crucifixes.

Psch, Gorgoroth is crap.

But that is interesting how he escaped with only a few broken bones.

I've never heard of them before. Just thought the story was amusing. At 20 I'd have thought he was a little old to be listening to music like that, isn't it aimed at impressionable 13 year olds?

I listen to some death metal but even a nut like me has to have some limits.

Hell no. I'm probably one of the few and I don't listen to it too often either. Plain Heavy Metal works best for me. Priest, Maiden, Sabbath, Scorps, etc.

I only ask because the guy in the story is from Canada and the only 2 people to reply to the thread are too! Weird coincidence then...

Nah, people of all ages will listen to this stuff.

Gorgoroth just tries too hard to be evil. Their stage antics are incredibly disgusting, ridiculous and totally unnecessary.

well they do serve a purpose, trust me dude it's not an act. I know many of the more underground MLO ppl here in Sweden and they are 100% serious with their statements and what they sing about. but then again, many of them are orthodox devilworshippers.

altho gorgoroth is hardly the first and only band to do this. Dark Funeral for example have been doing that on live shows for a long long time.

and not to forget wo did if FIRST. None other then Mayhem with their impaled pigs heads.

I'm sorry, I suppose it's like any kind of ritual crap that people do. I shouldn't really rag on it if that's all part of their beliefs. I just don't really enjoy those kinds of stage antics. Just get up there and play the music, that's what matters.

Hmm... I would have to disagree. Even if you don't like the way they sound, they are far more original than many other metal-bands.

I have to agree with Jonny on this one - once you have studied the history of Black Metal in Norway and Sweden, you will realize that many of these "acts" are more real than people think. I do not support church burnings or the like, but such things did indeed take place in the early ninetees.
