The Darkness

has anyone heard of this new band called "The Darkness"? if the name doesnt ring a bell then how about their song "I Believe in a thing Called Love"? Does anyone like them? They're becoming really popular here in the U.S. and MTV plays their video a lot, they sound like an old 80s band which is cool cause the 80s era is cool [img]smile.gif[/img] I love the song, but not the video [img]graemlins/ohwell.gif[/img]

I saw them on TV once. One of the dudes reminded me of Robert Plant. The way he looked, at least.

I have a huge distaste for them. They purposely write cheesey lyrics, and are parodying metal (mostly 80's metal) in general, they're taking it to the extreme in the weird glam sense. In that way, they are similar to Spinal Tap which takes away from the whole purpose of even doing it in the first place. If they are indeed serious about their music, then I must be losing my mind. Either that or sum corporate *****s up there figured it out for "us" and I still can't see through that right? I can't believe they've sold a single copy of that garbage. It just goes to show how stupid the masses are.

And they sound like a more accesible version of Thin Lizzy anyways if you want me to be honest, the whole "twin guitar melodies", Marshall stacks, high falsetto's deal and what not.

the darkness are great and their videos are just as good. they`ve been around since about summer last year and they are amazing live. they`re releasing their next single soon and it is "love is only a feeling"

i agree with captain beefheart.
i cant understand how people can like them. when i heard 'i believe in a thing called love' for the first time it was the only time ive laughed out loud at how bad they sounded. his voice is terrible.

I posted a topic about them before and no one had heard of them! Yeah but I love them Krista, all my friends saw them play last december I coudlnt go :mad: Darkness fever has kinda swept England :D

Yup, the Darkness are kinda big over here. They won three Brit Awards last month, including Best Album for Permission to Land.

While i'm not a huge fan, i do like their music, although, yes, Justin Hawkins' voice does grate on my nerves after a while.

The darkness sucks, the singiger is not even good looking. the hit song is so dumb as is the video. i hope the all burn in the flam of suffering.

I have to admit, I bought their CD when it first came out. I find them rather amusing.

But they did sink kind of low when they bad-mouthed The Strokes and The White Stripes though. Sellouts in denial...

ahaha they suck i sure them at the big day out and the only good thing about them is that the singer is a good guitarist and they made me laugh a few times, but thats not hard
