| Mu nótahu ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I just got a copy of the new Incubus album on a CD-R my drummer made for me and after just one listening, whatt can I say?. It's more than I expected based on the single. I expected another album with a bunch of pop hits like Morning View, but there are really not many hits and much more experimental tracks. Brendan O'Brien produced it, so you defintely hear a Pearl Jam influence on the mix itself, very raw/live sound to it. A very surprising first entry in my TOP 10 of 2004 list. The music itself sounds like a cross from the previous albums but a bit more "proggresive" in pretty much every sense, from arrangements, composition, dynamics, textures, chord voicings, lyrics. Also, I read that the band recorded a 22 minute song called "Pantomime" that didn't make the final cut of the album... From Feb 2004 issue of Guitar One: quote: Quote:
Here I can see why that wasn't included. Nice "brush" playing by Pasillas, that's such a lost art, then again I've never heard a rock drummer play brushes besides Brian Blade in that "Come Away With Me" single by Norah Jones. That's soul jazz tho HA! Anyways. Some great songs from the ACLOTM to check out... "Sick Sad Little World" (epic song and great solo!) "Pistola" (bridge section sounds like something from Rush song) "Here in My Room" (a well written ballad type song) "Priceless" (again, awesome solo section) Review [ February 05, 2004, 09:57 PM: Message edited by: Captain Beefheart ] | |
