| I want to know about one of the bands or musicians you listen to. How long have they been around and what is it that keeps you a loyal fan? What I don't want here is somebody getting on some other poster's choice in music. I will remove any negative comments made to another poster. I just want to know what makes you like that certain group/musician. [ January 17, 2005, 12:56 AM: Message edited by: Winterwolf ] |

| Hm, favourite band. I'd have to say Iced Earth. Or rather "The Jon Schaffer Band" since Jon is the main songwriter and the only remaining founding member since they started as Purgatory back in...1988, I think. It's very odd, this band. Each album had a different lineup. At least one of the musicians always left or was replaced. Heck, their last drummer left in the middle of the tour to pursue a career in comedy last year. Richard Christie, I think was his name. Why do I like 'em? I'm not sure. I guess I like that they're pretty much the traditional 80's heavy metal type of band. Fast, crunching guitars, a thunderous rhythm section, a singer who can actually sing as opposed to screaming or shouting...Mmm, and I love those guitar harmonies. Not to mention Schaffer's playing has really influenced my own guitar playing. That guy is a machine, I'm telling ya! So fast, so steady. Mmm, I'm in love. They also do the ballady types of songs, which is nice after hearing the heavy stuff. Hm, that's all I can think of about them right now. I guess...if you want to hear something cool by them, listen to their most recent masterpiece called "Gettysburg 1863", which of course follows the battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War and consists of the songs (in this order) The Devil to Pay, Hold at All Costs, and High Water Mark. Each of those songs covers one day of the battle. It's really cool, Schaffer's a huge history buff. End Transmission. |

| sla-pus a bit-chus ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Clash- The Only Band That Matters They did it all funk, dub, rap, reggae, punk, country western, but I mostly love their rock-n-roll. They were very full of energy and passion, a lot of people say this about bands, but they truly changed my life. The way I think about music, the world, I have a wider perspective of this universe now and am more accepting of music and other people. Their politics inspired a generation..I can go on and on about the clash. They gave me hope, when I was just a hopeless punk. DAMN..look at these lyrics, genious (The Clash) CHORUS Charlie don't surf and we think he should Charlie don't surf and you know that it ain't no good Charlie don't surf for his hamburger Momma Charlie's gonna be a napalm star Everybody wants to rule the world Must be something we get from birth ONE TRUTH IS WE NEVER LEARN Satellites will make space burn We've been told to keep the strangers out We don't like them starting to hang around We don't like them all over town Across the world we are going to blow them down and on of their earlier songs..about condoms Clash - Protex Blue Lyrics (Strummer/Jones) Standing in the bog of a West End bar Guy on the right leaning over too far Money in my pocket gonna put it in the slot Open up the pack see what type I got (CHORUS) I didn't want to hold you I didn't want to use you Protex, Protex Blue All I wanna do It's a fab protective for that type of a girl But everybody knows that she uses it well It's the therapeutic structure I can use at will But I don't think it fits my B.D. Drill Sitting in a carriage of a Bakerloo Erotica my pocket got a packet for you Advert on the escalator on my way home I don't need no skin flicks, I wanna be alone I didn't want to hold you I didn't want to use you Protex, Protex Blue All I wanna do Johnny, Johnny [ January 18, 2005, 03:23 AM: Message edited by: Dark Dude ] |

| RelientK is my favorite band. They are a couple years old. They are from Canton Ohio. They only have three members now but, that's okay. They have four cds out. The newest one was out nov.2 of last year and I was at their concert the day it came out it was so much FuN!!!!! The way I stay loyal to RK is by keeping a notebook of their lyrics with me at all times and the notebook has everything to do with RK I have pics. Stuff that Relates to them.. I love RK!! |

| Kings of leon The info - While Youth & Young Manhood shook up the musical landscape, introducing a bracing blend of runaway-train energy, pointedly thoughtful lyrical attitude and a remarkably fresh take on traditional guitar-rock dynamics, the new collection marks a wildly impressive leap forward, taking the first album's primal rock into deeper—and unmistakably darker—musical and emotional territory. The upheaval that accompanied the band's rapid rise to heavily-scrutinized international rock stardom is reflected in Aha Shake Heartbreak's original compositions. These haunting, twisted tales compellingly confront the darker side of success, surveying the personal toll of debauchery, overindulgence and fast living. The NME recently observed, "If Youth and Young Manhood was the party, Aha Shake Heartbreak is the hangover." |

| Bloomin' crazy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Muse. Yes, Muse has to be my favourite band. Their first CD was released in 1999, Showbiz. They've released three albums so far, and the last one, Absolution (2003), is my favourite. I love them because they're really original, and because Matthew Bellamy is a great musician. The songs are like nothing you've heard before, and some of them just stand out. Stockholm Syndrome, Time Is Running Out, Sunburn, Fury and Nature_1 are a few good songs. |

| I love Muse too. Going to buy Absolution at some point, because i've played Origin of Symmetry to death. I love their cover of Feelin' Good and i have them singing Can't Take My Eyes Off You too. Excellent stuff. At the moment, i'm into Keane, Snow Patrol, Scissor Sisters, Coldplay, Maroon 5... although it depends on my mood. |

| Not sure who my favourite band is right now. I think it's Coldplay, but I know they're not the most talented. If you said it was boring, I'd understand. However, I still like them. And "Plug In Baby" is one of my favourite songs to play very very loud. I'll also buy anything from Jack Johnson or Kings of Convenience. Because of KC, anything by Erlend Øye sparks my interest, even if it's dance. |

| Well I guess it's about time I get around to answering my own question. Evanescence is one of my favorite groups. Not just because of their music or the singer is reasonably attractive but because of what they have been through since being signed. In October 2003 right in the middle of of an overseas tour without any notice whatsoever co-founder and guitarist Ben Moody quit the band in an attempt to sabotage it. Amy Lee at the time was suffering from Viral Bronchitis(sp) but was still performing. Amy Lee now sole owner and founder of the band didn't cancel one show instead guitarist John LeCompt took over all guitar parts. Evanescence continued on as a 4 piece until Ben was replaced by ex-Cold guitarist Terry Balsamo. In most cases when a band member leaves that early after signing it is a death knell for the band. In general I like the Never-Say-Die attitude the band has adopted. Amy has faced everything from an abusive ex-boyfriend to the betrayal of a person (Ben Moody) she thought was her best friend and not only survived career wise but for the most part thrived. Fallen is 6x platinum and Evanescence grossed $18 million in overseas tours in 2004, (no data found on U.S tour gross.) As for personal relations with fans Amy Lee has asked the fans of Evanescence not to go to people or sites that speak about the band negatively and defend them. Siting that it's just a matter of that persons opinion. For the most part the fans listened but there are a few that just don't listen. To go from nearly dead to standing tall is a respectable thing in my book and I wait to see what their new album will do. They show great respect for their fans and their road crew. In interviews it is hinted that the new album won't be so "tormented soul" melodramatic as Fallen was. [ March 15, 2005, 12:27 PM: Message edited by: Winterwolf ] |
