to me it is. I am less likely to buy a cd then I was before. Two reasons.. price and the fact that I have been let down on cds before. I mean I remember buying a cd because of one song and finding out the rest suck horribly. Now I can sample that cd and find out it all sucks and not bother to get it. Itunes sells that song for 1 dollar. Itunes will sell that cd for 10 dollars. I am speaking of a legal sense, I know people will say that you can get it free if you download it or whatever but from a legal standpoint, cd's are dying for me.

The bitrate of downloaded music isn't high enough whether you download it legally or illegally. Even Apple iTMS has their songs as 128 kbps AAC files. I compress them as 192 kbps AAC. So I won't buy something of low quality. I'd rather have a CD to rip at any bit-rate I want. Also, I buy the CDs that I like. I don't buy the ones I dislike, so I rarely buy anything horrid. Downloading songs illegally has allowed me to buy more CDs than ever. Go figure, RIAA.

i'm not saying you don't burn your own cds. I am saying that as far as buying a 15 dollar cd with 12 songs, what is the likelyhood that you are still doing that? I'd believe you are not buying as much cds as you might have before the downloading age came ;p
