Carrie's "Mama's Song" preview on Billboard With Carrie Underwood’s “Cowboy Casanova” single blasting to No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in two weeks — and calling out two-timing country boys everywhere — anticipation for the Nov. 3 release of her new album, “Play On,” is officially in full swing. Now, before you can hear it anywhere else, Billboard.com has an exclusive preview of “Mama’s Song,” a new track from “Play On” that finds a more serious-minded Underwood thanking her mother for teaching her some important life lessons.
“You’ve given me everything that I will need / To make it through this crazy thing called life,” Underwood sings on “Mama’s Song.” “And I know you watched me grow up and only want what’s best for me / And I think I found the answer to your prayers.”
“Play On” reunites Underwood with longtime producer Mark Bright and writer Brett James, but it also finds her branching out a bit. The “American Idol” winner teamed up with Mike Elizondo (Eminem, Dr. Dre) to co-write “Cowboy Casanova” with James, and she’s also been working with pop hitmakers Kara DioGuardi and Max Martin.
