Default Orlando involved in car crash

Orlando Bloom was involved in a serious car accident last night around 2:15 AM at the intersection of Fountain and Vista - and, once again, X17 was on the scene! Our video starts immediately after the accident, as Orlando attempted to leave the scene (until a photog had the presence of mind to inform him that, if he left the scene, his actions would make the accident a hit-and-run). Upon returning, he attempted to tend to one of his female companions (he had two in the car) until emergency personnel responded. Currently, Orlando's waiting at the hospital for his companion to be released - we'll bring you more as we hear it!

I'm wondering why he walked away at first...that kind of shocked me he would do that. I'm hoping it was another reason, maybe he wanted privacy on the phone or was in shock. But was it just me or did he not seem to care too much the girl was bleeding from the head?

er...maybe he was disoriented. The brain reacts in weird ways after a trauma.

I hope that's it. I've always had a lot of respect for him.

Small update

ET has the text of a statement just issued by Orlando Bloom’s rep about his car accident early this morning:

“Orlando Bloom, who was in a minor car collision late last night, is grateful that no one was seriously injured. Bloom called for help immediately following the incident. He spent last night at the hospital to be with his childhood friend who sustained a minor neck injury. He is thankful that emergency services arrived so quickly and that the ER staff at Cedars Sinai took such good care of his friend.”

Here you can view a video of Orlando before the accident happened. He seemed a bit wacky to me.

Wasn't he just in a car crash? Or some months ago at least?

Uhm, this seems kind of.. I dunno, maybe taken out of context?
Some jealousy over a girl or something. Maybe he go into the car to say he wasn't actually hitting on his girl or something. Who knows? All I know is it seems weird.

Also, was that woman driving the car? Because that would explain a lot. Turning the key in the ignition when the car was already on? And that little bump on that huge car caused bleeding from the head? What did you have in the car, iron spears? Broken glass stuck to the walls?

Woah! The crash looks serious! Maybe he was just walking away to have the paparazzi follow him and not watch the people who got hurt. I dunno. Anyway, in the video over at X-17 it looks like he's in shock to me. His response ("really?") makes me think he's not really thinking straight. And his face is all white.

I agree with you, cuz he is not that kind of person, that would leave his friends injured in a car

Someone posted this on LJ from their brothers blog:

What REALLY happened in the Orlando Bloom crash...
This is straight from my brother's blog. He was there at the scene
:

"A little over an hour ago I was saying goodbye to the girl I am dating when I heard a car accident nearby. As I walked up the street towards my car I noticed the accident was right at the intersection (Vista and Fountain) that I was headed to. Although there didn't seem to be any ambulances, I could still see flashes of light that appeared to be coming from an ambulance. As I walked closer to the accident it became apparent that the lights were not, in fact, those from an ambulance, but rather . . . drum roll please . . . from paparazzi. The crash scene was peppered with these guys. This whole scene just didn't make any sense to me: There were two cars, that I could tell, that were involved in the accident - one small, black hatchback, VW golf type car and one Porsche Cayenne (an SUV), along with two other cars surrounding the scene that were either almost involved in the accident or just there to help - not too sure. About 4 guys and 1 girl were trying to pull another girl out of the small black car while, get this, the paparazzi flashed away and filmed the scene! Honestly, it took me a few minutes to put together what was happening here. I was so confused - was this a film shoot and this was a controlled accident? No, couldn't be - there wasn't enough crew for that sort of shot. What the hell are all these cameras here for??? Was this a reality tv show? Then I realized the simple answer was paparazzi. There had to have been about 6 guys snapping photos and about 4 guys filming the scene with video cameras. As I tried to comprehend the situation, the paparazzi just became more bold as time went on, leaning in closer and closer into these poor people's faces, flashing bright lights into their eyes, including the victim they were trying to help! I really could not believe this was happening! I couldn't believe that the paparazzi had the selfishness to continue bombarding these people even after they just got in an accid- wait! And that is exactly when I realized that it was most likely the paparazzi that caused this whole thing! I've never had so much disdain for these people and their "work". So, I decided to do what I could to help and got into the paparazzi's face, yelling at them and berating them for their lack of integrity, as well as, hopefully, ruining their shots. Meanwhile, the police arrived on the scene. This, of course, did not stop the paparazzi, but at this point I think I had done a fine job of fending them off. Although I never ended up being able to tell who the main victim was, who was pulled out of the car, I am sure that one of the prime targets of the paparazzi was Orlando Bloom. I overheard Orlando tell the police that there was at least one other car involved, and that it was paparazzi who were in the other cars. The paparazzi, it turns out, did indeed instigate this whole situation.

Funny thing is, just last week I ended up as a VIP guest at Area, a nightclub in West Hollywood that apparently the cast from MTV's The Hills frequents, among other celebrities. As I walked out of that club, I will admit that I felt special with all the paparazzi around (I later found out Mark Wahlberg was in there with us). I felt, this must be what it's like to be famous - not as bad as I thought. Tonight changed my opinion for sure. I feel bad for celebrities. They have no peace in public - not even in times of dire, even life-threatening, need. Odd thing is, their jobs are to entertain the public - to make our lives more enjoyable, and the thanks we offer back is "Entertain us in your personal lives too!", thereby ruining their lives to a certain extent. Moral of the story: please leave these people alone, they also deserve a certain amount of privacy."

Well, they said there was no alcohol in his system. I dunno if we should trust it or not. Celebrities get away with lots of stuff. With that being said I do believe he was in shock, and it didn't seem like he snapped out of it immediately. Of course the paparazzi websites are going to say he tried to leave the scene. They love scandals, even if they have to make them up themselves.

Orlando cleared of charges in car crash

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Los Angeles officials on Friday cleared Orlando Bloom of hit-and-run and drunken driving charges stemming from a car crash during which the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star was chased by paparazzi.

"There was insufficient evidence he was trying to get away," said Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Country District Attorney.

An official evaluation of the incident also states the actor was not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Bloom, 30, was driving in west Los Angeles in the early morning hours on October 12 when he swerved and hit a car.

The evaluation sheet shows Bloom was being chased by paparazzi in four cars, two of which tried to cut him off. It said that after the wreck, Bloom walked about 60 feet (20 meters) to avoid photographers then returned.

Bloom was dazed according to his police statement, but he later tested clear of alcohol and drugs.

We are very happy because of this decision of D.A. and we hope this will silence all the wicked tongues.

Yeah, that's not what I mean. It just seems to me like he wasn't himself. I mean, really, who'd walk away from a scene like that with the paparazzi everywhere?

I think he was driving, actually.
