Lord of the Rings heart-throb Orlando Bloom is set to be the next James Bond - after Irish actor Pierce Brosnan retires as 007.

The British actor, who played elf Legolas in the JRR Tolkien film trilogy, is in meetings with Bond producers, who are desperate for Bloom to play the ladykilling spy, according to British tabloidhe Daily Star.advertisement

A Bond source says, "They are pulling out all the stops to get him.

"Orlando would be perfect for the part as he's got the looks, the charm, the accent and the high profile that would make Bond even more popular.

"They want to move away from the traditional image of James Bond - the older, suave gentleman - and believe a younger, trendier actor will attract friends."

The actor's spokesman said, "No decision had been made about him taking the role."

I remember I thought about him as James Bond when I first saw his face and heard his accent. But I dunno, I don't really like James Bond. But I will if this is true, though [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Blergh, James Bond? I've never been into JB really. Orli doesn't seem to fit, though.

Talk about killing the series.

Bloom is not suave, nor does he have the class to pull of Bond.

Jackman would have fit the roll nicely.

If Sean Connery were Bond again, I'd be the swarming fan girl. I love that old guy. Sexay *licks lips*. he's just so neat-o you gotta love him. And, come on, he was Indy's daddy.
If everyone in the world spoke with Sean Connery's Scottish lisp it would be such a more enjoyable life.

Wow, I really can't see Orlando as James Bond... he doesn't seem to fit the character. James Bond wouldn't truly be James Bond without the 'older, suave gentleman' thing going on. But it could be interesting, maybe it would work. But ones thing's for sure if he does make the film then i am watching and buying it. Hello? It's Orlando! :D :cool: lol I guess I can see what the Bond people are on about now... ;)

I reckon Orli's a bit too mainstream..if thats the right word.. [img]graemlins/boggled.gif[/img] lol...i dont think he is really that suited but mmm I can imgaine the ' Bond, James Bond'..ooh [img]graemlins/yummy.gif[/img] *goes of into James Bonddream* :D
