I'm impressed with the Gackt fans that have visited. You can start a Gackt thread in the Stars forum and we could all start a Bunraku thread in the General Movies thread.

Not that I have any problems with Gackt fans in Joshtopia. I love it and I think Josh would like it too.

Laura - A Bunraku media thread in Joshtopia would need to focus on Josh thats why I named this the Josh and Gackt thread instead. That way Josh fans who don't want to hear about anything but Josh can just avoid it if they want and the Gackt fans can go wild.

Gackt - is mostly pronounced as
[GAKUTo] but that is mostly by his fans on the conserts or in English way I heard [GeKT] - that was on DVD's where he and his works were described and his name was used in English

How is his name prounced? in my mind I say Gack.

As watashimokomi mentioned, in Japanese, it's pronounced Gakuto (the A is like in "ball," the "to" on the end sounds like "toe"). This is because, in Japanese, other than vowels by themselves + N, all consonants are paired with a vowel. So the CK and T in "Gackt" get vowels added to them, hence "Gakuto."

You can hear them say it a lot in this video from 2002 (which is also very funny -- the show is "Hey!Hey!Hey! Music Champ" and is hosted by two popular comedians; it's a good example of what celebrities have to put up with on Japanese variety shows sometimes).



Most English-speakers pronounce it the way it looks but with a shorter A, like in "cat." Gackt seems to be fine with either.
