Great news: Bunraku footage will be shown at Cannes this month!

The Cannes Film Festival will take place this year May 14-May 25. They won't be showing the whole movie, just some of the footage.

Thanks Laura, that's just fantastic news! Great to see someone pushing one of Josh's movies for a change.

Ron Perlman has been confirmed;

"Hellboy" star Ron Perlman will play the bad guy in the hybrid martial arts movie "Bunraku."

The film is set in an original hyper-stylized universe, a la "Sin City," and draws from a mixed bag of genres, including puppets, origami, comic books, video games and German expressionism. It follows a drifter (Josh Hartnett) who teams up with a samurai (Japanese actor Gackt) to take on an Eastern European gang lord, played by Perlman.

Also in the cast are Japan's Shun Sugata, Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson, Scottish actor Kevin McKidd and Spanish actor Jordi Molla.

Guy Moshe is directing the Snoot Entertainment production from his own script.

"I've always loved movies in the 'no-name stranger coming to town and ending up in a bigger struggle (genre),"' Snoot's Keith Calder said. "I think this is an opportunity to take this genre and spin it on its head and bring a unique and strong visual style to it."

I don't know how many stunts Gackt's stunt double is actually doing because in Gackt's fanclub only blog, he has made two separate entries about him getting hurt doing his own stunts.

First, Josh accidentally punched him in the nose then had to hold him back, apologizing and saying it was an accident because Gackt has a short temper xD and second, while filming that rain scene, Gackt was on Josh's shoulders and he fell and hit his head, resulting in him passing out for 5 full minutes o_O

Gackt did his own stunts in MoonChild too so I'm not too surprised that he's doing his own in Bunraku too.

True but both Josh and Gackt have their own stunt doubles listed in the cast, so obviously they're both doing some stunt work but not all of it.

I know he sometimes passes out after his concerts because he exerts himself a lot. The man doesn't sleep much (3-4 hours) and he doesn't eat much carbs at all (he says he gets fat eating carbs) so his energy is eaten up really fast.

Makes sense for him to hit his head and pass out though. Josh is how tall? 6'3'' I think. and for Gackt to be on his shoulders and then fall straight to the floor. Thats a pretty hard hit to the head o.O

Even the Bunraku staff have been talking about how Gackt barely sleeps and is always so busy, either filming the movie or doing more work on his upcoming cd.

I'm really excited to see this movie though. I never would have imagined Josh and Gackt together. I loved Josh in Pearl Harbor lol

Thanks talene, sounds like they make quite a pair; Josh has said he's a night time person who has trouble sleeping and that he's accident prone!
I hope they get through the shoot without any major problems.

I AM TOTALLY NOT GUILTY OF THE GACKT HIJACK IN THIS THREAD. Not this time. >:D

Talene, Gackt actually slept AN ENTIRE DAY after his head injury.

lol referring to the sleeping problem, the interview that Kate posted in the 30 DON thread, Josh said that as an actor his biological clock is messed up because of all the flying, night filmings and such.. so we can go on four days without sleeping lol.

It's grueling to be an actor. So, Gackt passing out is a normal thing, it's just his body telling him to take it slow.

I don't think it was THAT bad. XD Josh immediately went to hold him back so he had a chance to apologize to Gackt before Gackt got upset.

On an unrelated note, FIFTY POSTS. HOW LONG I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS MOMENT. XD I'm going to revamp my sig so it has less Gackt in it now. X3
