Who should play the Black Dahlia?

There's a picture of her in the other thread I opened.

Since she dies in the opening scene it will probably be a very small role but maybe she will have a lot of flash back scenes (like Laura Palmer in the AMAZING Twin Peaks)

This was a really hard decision to make.. I like all of them but in the end it was between Natalie Portman, Jennifer Connely and Katie Holmes.

Voted for Katie. I doubt JC would do a role this big and the same goes for NP. Katie looks a bit too young but I like her a lot so... [img]graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img]

Monica Bellucci should play Josh's girlfriend.

I think Jennifer Connelly would be good.
However Katie just the same, although personally I find occasionally her performances can be a bit weak...although she is beautiful and would fit the role.

i voted for natalie portman but that was before i had seen what Elizabeth had looked like. after that, i definately would have voted for juliette lewis.

From what I've heard and seen, Elizabeth was a dark (black)-haired young lady but with a pretty full grown body. I choose Juliette Lewis. I agree the eyes look similar, and also the dark hair on Juli, could be a very close fit!

I think Maggie Gyllanhaal should play the Black Dahlia. She has a perfect mixture of tortured soul and sex appeal. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Juliette Lewis has three votes [img]graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img] She does look quite a bit like the black dahlia and is a very talented and versatile actress who's in need of a good movie.

I liked Liv in Cookies Fortune but I think she's too much of a big name for this role. She'd just be too distracting.

In the end I think they will probably find an unknown because it will probably be too much of a small role for one of these actresses to consider it (except for maybe Juliette I guess)

Somebody I left off the poll... Laura Harring (Mullholand Drive) looks slightly too old but I can see her in the part. I know that De Palma loves Mullholand Drive so I hope he aproaches her for the role. Even though she isn't much of an actress (but good enough for this)

voted for Christina Ricci. I like her very much as an actress but I´m a little afraid of what she would try to get from Josh lol. :D

I know that the actress dies in the opening scene but how big does her role become as they do flashback scenes to try to figure out what happened to her? I heard the book doesn't really focus on her that much. From reading about the real life actress, she was a down-on-her luck girl who had it rough from the very beginning of her life. Then she arrived in Hollywood and couldn't really break through. It seems like you would need an actress who could project all that very well. Although working with De Palma would be an honor, I think the size of the part will impact who will be cast. Jennifer Connelly is good at that but may want a bigger part. Liv Tyler has serious old Hollywood style and glamour but I think she projects too much sweetness. I would add Josh's co-star in Wicker Park to this, Rose Byrne. She is known to play troubled characters well. Anna Friel, who was very good in Me Without You, may also be a good choice. Of course the reigning queen of projecting such trouble is Angelina. Josh's new co-star, Rachel Weisz, is also a very good actress. It will be exciting to see who they cast.

I voted. I like Christina Ricci, Maggie, and Liv. But I'm going with Rachel Weisz. I don't think the size of the part would bother her and she's got that haunting quality about her.

but i think i'd rather see him work with different people in each film.
