Straight up with Paula

Paula Abdul apparently has got a clue how not to wind up as broke as M.C. Hammer. My darling High Flying Correspondent Jake Morrow was recently on an economy airline's L.A.-to-Phoenix flight with Abdul. "I was pretty surprised. I got on the Southwest plane, a cheap flight that was like 75 bucks. Southwest doesn't have any first class," said Morrow. No assigned seats either. "She almost sat down between me and this other guy. Yeah. She ended up sitting a row in front of me, and when I got off the plane some guy was getting an autograph signed, and I just walked up to her and said, 'Hey, can I take a quick picture, I've got this phone?' She said, Oh, sure, but why don't you have someone else take it and jump in the picture with me? She was tremendously nice. She introduced herself and asked what my name was." When another guy walked up and saw that Morrow had a camera phone, that fellow asked for a photo and gave Jake his business card to e-mail the image. "She was nice just waiting around taking pictures with people. It was fun," said Morrow. "Then after she got off, M.C Hammer got off the plane, too. I was shocked." Nothing surprising about the grandpa of rap being on a cheap flight. "Exactly," said Morrow. The man known to his bankruptcy attorney as Stanley Kirk Burrell "lost like [$33] million, so I understand why he's on a $75 flight." Abdul was probably flying into Phoenix to visit her boyfriend, Colton Melby, the big gun at Smith & Wesson, who has a home in Scottsdale. Morrow went to Phoenix to watch his sister Julia Morrow play basketball for Westmont College in Santa Barbara. Jake is paying the bills by working for a mobile phone company and casually looking for a way into Hollywood. If Josh Hartnett can be a heartthrob, there's a chance Jake Morrow can be even hotter. We're going to humor this Minnesota darling's dalliance for a while longer and not ask: Shouldn't you be in law school?
