| I just watched the 60 Minutes segment on Jerry and Mary Newport. It was very interesting. It showed the film title shot of Mozart and the Whale where Josh is seen walking down the street from the back, away from the taxi. It says something to the effect that Hollywood producers were inspired by Jerry and Mary's story to make a film based loosely on their lives. Then it showed a clip from the movie with Josh and Radha, but it did not mention Josh. However, it did state that the movie was due out later this year. It stated that the movie "captures the social discomfort people like Jerry always feel". I really admire Jerry and Mary for all the work they have done to educate and inform the public about Asperger's and to aid other Asperger's sufferers. Who better to understand their plight? Having said all that, I must say that Josh is absolutely adorable in this movie. I feel like he is going to get great accolades for his performance. I think this is going to be a very special movie, and I am so proud that Josh is a part of it! [ September 30, 2004, 01:12 PM: Message edited by: olive ] |

Agreed, Jerry's a real inspiration for anyone; he makes me realise how much a person can achieve if they just get on and try. Here's part of the interview on the CBS site, but sadly not the film clips, but it's great to see Jerry and Mary's menagerie! |

| Sure Kate. It was an extremely brief shot. It shows a long shot of Josh walking away from the taxi, then walking up to a building with what looks like a bag of groceries in his hands. The next shot, Radha is standing behind Josh and she says something like "Good". Josh is facing away from her-toward the screen. He doesn't speak in the clip but he has that uncomfortable, shy, no-eye contact kind of look. Then I think it cut away to another angle of Josh looking the same way. I'm not sure if it was in the trailer, but it was so short that it was really nothing that different from the trailer. Hope this helps. This is to the best of my recollection. I will go back and watch the trailer later to see if the shot is included. |
